The Eastern Thorns
A gang of thieves, ruffians and miscreants that claims the eastern parts of Rochdale as their own territory. Under the leadership of Barnes “Gut Shot” Swick, the “Thorns” have become a real powerhouse in the seedy underbelly of Rochdale. Making their living mainly from shakedowns and protection rackets, their growing influence has made their numbers swell.
As it stands, the Thorns and their hangarounds number in the thirties and at least half of them are willing to kill to keep the gold rolling in. The gang uses the basement of the eponymous “The Roses Thorns” as their base of operations but maintains a few hideouts throughout the city. It is not known whether the gang took its name after the bar or the other way around. What is known however is that they both were established around the same time sixteen years ago and that this coincided with a catastrophic fire in a bar situated in the same location. Four people died in the blaze and Swick bought the premises for cheap in the aftermath.
