John Doe was born in RI. his arcologies mom was English and was friends with the Qnilus family. he and Qnilus were good friends as kids. his dad is a history teacher. he vaw cverey close to his mom.  At the age of 18, he joined the Nave engineer and then a unit in the ONI for 8 years against his parent's wishes. They have always wanted him to follow in their footsteps.
