A Player Among The Stars

Fifty thousand years ago a mysterious event occurred. Three great races, the Magonitch a Race of Human-like bipeds with bionic implants and a great understanding of Technology, the Agaratch who are a race of Lizard-kin with a superlative understanding of Technology and Magic allowing them to create technomagic easily, and finally the Eldritch who are a race of Elfish bipeds with Grey Skin White Hair and Red eyes who have an almost inborn understanding of magic.   These three Races, known as the Great Three by the lesser kinds, once battled across the cosmos in massive warships and in fleets the size of which would stagger the mind. They razed entire Star-Sectors to the ground and often used Blackholes as last resort weapons against each other. Then just over Forty Thousand Years Ago... Something happened that would change the course of history forever.   Out of a little known sector of space, just south of the Eighth Tangential Galactic Arm in the Galactic West, a new race of beings emerged. Diastima; White Skinned, White-eyed, Light-Grey haired, and plain to human eyes, they emerged. Billions of mile-long vessels arced out of the unexplored wastes of the Galactic West and out into the galaxy.   At first, the lesser races found them to be not too unlike gods and angels sent to aid them, as the Diastima simply requested they align with them and they would all be provided for, but as time went by the start of the Hundred Years Diastima War began... They saw the true colors of their one-time beneficent leaders.   Stars were hurled around as if they were marbles across the sand. Blackholes were used as if they were so much chaff and the Disatima unleashed their true capabilities upon the universe. The first time this happened and the entire battle fleet of seventy million ships was wiped from existence by a single vessel. The Diastima revealed their ability to use Quantum Spacetime Physics on a whim and terrified the entire Galaxy into a singleminded goal.   Kill.   Them.   All.   The Three Great races came together for the first and last time to create the First Great Federation, which was joined by several dozen lesser Nations, Empires, Kingdoms, and Clans. The entire Galaxy moved against them and quickly devised ways to counter their godlike powers of Time and Space.   Within a year they managed to keep them from wiping the Federation fro the face of the Universe, and in ten they had their first decisive victory. In twenty they captured a world. In thirty they claimed a Sector. In Forty they had regained the Galactic Core. In Fifty the North and South. Sixty saw the breach of the West. Seventy saw the war escalate. Eighty saw the emergence of the Jump Gates that -to this day dot the Galaxy- and the stalemate of the war. Ninty claimed the beginning of the end. At Ninety-eight years the Diastima held but their home system on which they spawned.   Surrounded on all sides by the Federation and their billions strong armada of ships, it was clear that the Diastima were doomed. As a last-ditch effort, however, the Diastima had one final act of defiance against their once enemy and now oppressors. With the last billions on their planet, they carved out a matrix of Quantum tunneling that outshined anything and everything to ever be created for the next billion years by anyone civilization.   Upon the implosion of their planet, a self-inflicted wound that shocked the gathered masses of the federation, the Diastima sent out a single message to the Federation.   "For we have become the Destroyer of your Reality, we are Diastima, and this is our Curse upon you...."   The entire galaxy shifted and the entire history of the Galaxy was rewritten. Monsters prowled the deep, once a myth now a reality and forever on the hunt for Sapient Races.   The Time of The Hundred Years Diastima War was over... The Forever War was now.
