Kyustala Character in Wynsumheord | World Anvil

Kyustala

Sceado

Call To Adventure

From as far back as I can remember, I trained daily with my Sceado brothers. We helped each other through every test and trial. We learned and grew stronger together. The elders prophesied that our generation of Sceadu was destined to face several daunting tasks, and a quest that would surely put us all to the test. I knew not what it was at the time, but I was ready to lay down my life for my land and my people. It was evident that the elders could sense my willingness, and so they chose me to lead the generation of Sceadu.

Trials

On the day I was officially appointed the leader of my generation of Sceadu, I was very proud. Almost immediately, the elders had a task for us. We were to venture into Wynsumheord and investigate the The Mundbyrdians who sought allyship with us. We had to do this secretly for fear that the Firgenholt Woodsmen would oppose. There were a few close calls when they sent scouts to spy on us, but we managed to avoid them peacefully--- for the most part. One night as we camped, we were ambushed by an unidentified clan. Though they did not make themselves known, I was certain they were of the Firgenholt Wood. Their attacks wounded a few of my Sceado brothers, and nearly killed one of them. The realization of the severity of my position hit hard. I was responsible for the glories and victories of the team, but equally the failures and casualties.   Despite the attacks, we persevered. We met with The Mundbyrdians of Dryhtenhaven and each of our groups worked to prove loyalty and sincerity to the other.

The Return

When we returned to the Sundorwick Forests, I assured our people that the alliance had successfully been put into effect. We knew that we must keep such a bond secret for fear that the Firgenholt Woodsmen would despise our choices and seek to obliterate our tribe entirely; for they counted us traitors to the ancient ways we once both followed when our tribes were once joined together. We carried on peacibly for a time, but I felt deep down that it wasn't the end.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Kyustala is rather fit and toned. He trains relentlessly and stays extremely active by habit and lifestyle.

Body Features

He is tall, strong, and built like a warrior. He has pecan skin, umber eyes, and warm bronze hair in long locks. He most often ties it back when going into battle.

Facial Features

Kyustala has a friendly but fierce face. It can smile with a welcoming offer of help, but it can also scream "BE GONE!" if you get on his bad side. Overall, he can usually be found with a pleasant countenance. His handsome eyes and charming smile get him a lot of attention, but he pays no mind to the women of the tribe. He is too consumed in training and protecting the forest.

Identifying Characteristics

Kyustala has a natural way of standing out in any crowd. He has a presence that exudes honor and leadership. Though he is young, Many get the urge to ask him for help and direction. He carries himself proudly but in a very mature manner. He is not boastful, rather graceful and gracious to his fellows, but fierce in battle.

Physical quirks

Due to his Sceadu training, Kyustala is not the most hip on social interactions outside of war, hunting, and training. He is a very friendly person, but he will oftentimes venture into tangents about his formation unaware. He carries himself with dignity and honor, almost always standing in perfect posture for battle. He has a signature smile that he flashes when he is embarrassed, confused, or bored. It is not seen as rude, rather friendly and cute, so none get offended by it.

Special abilities

Kyustala is an excellent leader and an expert in combat with all weaponry he was trained in. He is also quick to help any in need. In addition to this, he was one of the few who snuck out into Wynsumheord and learned the ways of riding a horse (though their tribe does not traditionally utilize mounts).

Apparel & Accessories

Kyustala wears the traditional garb of the forest peoples when not in battle; loose garments made of Godwebb, leaves, plants, and other such materials found natively. Most times, the tribals will only wear the minimal amount of clothing necessary not to be considered naked. The females wear short, thin dresses, and the males are shirtless with trousers that come just above the knees. All are most commonly found barefoot.   When in combat, they are protected by chest plates of wood. Most all else is still exposed, though the leader of the Sceadu may be identified by a special ceremonial headpiece which is only worn in very important battles or at special occasions and ceremonies.

Specialized Equipment

All of the weapons and protective gear in Kyustala's armory were fashioned by him, his mother, his father, or all three together. Of this fact, he is very proud. He loves to bring pieces that they worked on as a family out onto the battlefield, for he feels that this is a great honor to his parents. It gives him confidence and even happiness to know that a piece of them is with him with every step he takes.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Kyustala was born of a humble couple in the Sundorwick Forests; Wukama, a maiden skilled in weaving and sewing, and Kechuku a young man well versed in woodwork. When he was three years of age, they dedicated him to the Sceadu so that the elders may train him up to be a leader when he came of age. Many other young Sundorwickians were also dedicated, for this is the way of their people.   The children were taught to hunt and fight using manual combat as well as weaponry. The Sundorwick Tribe is famous for their crossbows, blowdarts, and traditional bows and arrows. They also did train minimally with spears, for that is the primary weapon choice of their former fellow tribe members turned rivals the Firgenholt Woodsmen.   Picked out by the elders at an early age, Kyustala fulfilled his destiny to become the leader of his generation of Sceadu.

Education

Since the age of three, he was dedicated to the elders to learn combat and train in the ways of war along with many other manchildren who were born in his generation. He mastered archery using the bow and arrow and the crossbow. He also became well versed in several blowguns and other devices that utilized darts as projectiles.   Other than fighting, Kyustala was taught how to hunt. In addition to this, the elders were sure to pass down the legacy of their people by imparting the knowledge and history of their tribe to the young ones who were destined to lead them. Kyustala was a devout learner. He studied above all and was very strict in discipline. He would not meander and frolic like some of the other children. He spent his time practicing and learning the ancient ways of the tribal people.

Employment

Kyustala was raised into the Sceadu where he continued service well into his grown years. It is the only job he's ever known, and he holds it well. Protecting his homeland (the Sundorwick Forests) is near and dear to him. It is his personal duty; his passion; his life.

Accomplishments & Achievements

From a young age, he stood out to the elders. He would always accomplish the tasks he was sent to do, and go a bit beyond expectations. If he was sent to fetch fish for tonight's meal, he would return with enough for everyone to have seconds (and possibly thirds). If he was told to scamper up a tree and scout out the area, he would draw a map and bring it back down for all to see clearly. If he was asked to find a place for the Sceadu to camp for the night, he would set it up nicely, gather some kindling, and start a fire for them. This behavior is what kept the eyes of the elders upon him, thus eventually crowning him leader of his generation of Sceadu.

Failures & Embarrassments

His father is quite proud of him, for Kyustala has shaped up to be an even better man than he. Though Kechuku would have wanted to teach him more woodworking skills, his son never seemed to have the time. He did master the fashioning of weapons from wood, but no furniture, wagon parts, or other such things his father crafted famously.   His mother Wukama is fairly proud as well. Her only sadness is that Kyustala is so busy that he takes no time to court any woman, and she fears she will not live to see any grandchildren.

Mental Trauma

When Kyustala was about nine years old, the elders sent his generation of Sceadu trainees on a test mission. They were each to accomplish a various number of tasks. They could choose to attempt creating allies whom they could assist and could assist them, or they could endeavor to complete the tasks on their own. Kyustala chose the latter. He had always been very competitive and thought this an opportunity to show the leaders that he was even more capable than they had seen him be in the past. The problem was, the entire exercise was intentionally constructed to reinforce teambuilding skills, and to unite the Sceado. Unfortunately, everyone ended up teaming up together except Kyustala who refused even unto the very end. As a result, his tasks were incomplete, and, he was ranked poorly for not conveying the true spirit of the Sceadu which is to lean upon and assist your fellow man. He was laughed to scorn by all his fellow brethren and scolded by the elders. This was his greatest failure to note and he would never allow such to happen again. From then on, he asked for help when he needed it, and he offered his help to all around him.

Intellectual Characteristics

Kyustala is very smart and resourceful. He can be independent when necessary, but he is an incredible leader and team player. He offers assistance to all he encounters.

Morality & Philosophy

Kyustala is a devout follower of The Shining Lord along with his family, his Sceado brothers, and most of the Sundorwick Tribe as a whole. He often leads prayer before heading into battle.   Kyustala believes in the Sceadu spirit of teamwork and servitude. He places his family, his faith, and his passion for protecting his tribe at utmost priority. His life consists of little else.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Kyustala is driven by loyalty and honor, dedicated to protecting his family and his tribe, and devout in his faith to The Shining Lord.

Savvies & Ineptitudes

He is an expert in the ways of hunting and war. He is also very studied in his tribe's history. If quizzed, he would pass with flying colors, though he is hardly able to keep up a normal conversation without bringing in some aspect of his training or going off on a tangent about combat. Though extremely friendly, he is not very socialized outside of his Sceado brother group.

Likes & Dislikes

He loves all the culture of his forest peoples. He enjoys training, hunting, and fighting, but has little time for much else. In the little spare time he does have, he enjoys partaking in Haraka Maahe and sneaking away to Wynsumheord to explore and ride horses.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Kyustala is closest to his mother, his father, and his fellow Sceado. He also has a close and respectful relationship with the elders of the forest. Outside of this, he has not many other social relationships (much to his mother's dismay). He assesses that he is much to busy to court any girl.

Social Aptitude

Though extremely likable, helpful, and friendly, he has a hard time keeping up a conversation without diverting into talks of hunting and war.

Mannerisms

Kyustala almost always has a bright smile on his face. He stands in a battle-ready stance at nearly all times.

Hobbies & Pets

Kyustala's hobbies are training, training, and more training. Between that, he brushes up on tribal history, competes in some sporting rituals of the tribe, learns a little of his father's woodworking, helps tribals around the forest, and sneaks off into Wynsumheord to explore and ride horses. He also, as a leader of the Sceadu, pays very close attention and studies up on the Firgenholt Woodsmen as much as he can, for the elders fear that they will one day ambush.

Speech

As with many of the Sundorwick Forests, his speaking voice is what you may consider to be a hybrid between British and South African.

Wealth & Financial state

In the Sundorwick Forests, nearly all people are of one single class. In comparison to the rest of Wynsumheord, they may seem poor, but their forests are full of resources that many would kill for.
Kyustala is an expert archer. He hardly ever misses his target.
He is one with the forest, relentless in his ever-going quest to lead and protect his people.
His intense training and inherent wit make this young leader a force to be reckoned with.

I like the character itself, but within the context of the Hero Challenge I'm missing the oomph about what he's currently doing / has done, and how that's making a difference. You also might want to consider an opening paragraph to briefly summarize the character.

Yes. I am aware lol. As I have said, I, unfortunately, am very busy and I did note on discord that this article did not fit the Hero's Journey outline as expected. Hopefully I will be able to update it, but if not, I apologize. Thanks for reading though! God bless you.

I like it, the addition really works well with the description of him vowing to learn and grow.

sorry it still wasn't very detailed, but I realized there was a 2,500 word limit on the challenge and I am a few hundred away from skimming it. I guess I could eliminate some of the fluff by cutting down a lot of those prompt attributes, but that would take a lot of time and reworking. nevertheless, I appreciate your kind words
