Fifteen years ago, the Calamity began on this world we call Ultirhall. And for fifteen years, kingdoms and empires have tried and failed to stop it. Now, the Calamity has nearly won. It has claimed three of the four continents of Ultirhall, forcing you and what else remains of civilization onto the continent so dangerous that not even the apocalypse will touch it: Gefahrlich.
Gefahrlich is a continent of Gothic horror. Any nightmare you can imagine - and a great many that you can't - exists somewhere on the continent. Civilization only exists behind the great walls of ancient fortified cities - venture too far beyond the walls, and death is a certainty. Only fortified caravans still brave the roads between cities, bringing the world together bit by bit.
Perhaps you were once a noble, tasked with keeping the workers in your fiefdom safe and fed.
Perhaps you were a scholar, tasked with searching through books and tomes for the most important of information.
Perhaps you were a soldier, tasked with the safety and security of all.
Or perhaps you were nobody, with no tasks to your name but those you made yourself.
