Krech - Firefly
It is a putative oligarchy ruled collectively by the Merchant Council, and is rigorously neutral in most conflicts and disputes with other countries. Founded inland by wealthy patrons from Kitterdam, when Nighthold was constructed, Krech set itself up to house and manufacture trade for the regions and continent wide. Countrysides are sprawling around with ample land to farm and cultivate. Trade is a large part of life in Krech and the golden dominion. Krech specifically has The Missive for work or aid needed, and the Angora, the marketplace, if you couldn't find what you needed at the Farmer's markets. Many, years ago, the Queen's Lady Plague struck The Golden Dominion, most specifically the capital city of Kitterdam. During this time, severe lock downs and laws were implemented to save the city. The surrounding places never forgot the terror however, some telling old wives' tales about traveling alone at night and ghouls rising up to get you. Other superstitions Krech specifically has, is a practice of handing coins to people all face up. It's to let people know the trade is open and honest. Krech is a place mostly of farmlands and trade routes as goods move day and night through to Nighthold and beyond. Stone walls surround the little town to protect it from the various assaults by goblins, hobgoblins, wild animals and the like coming from the mountains nearby or the sky and Sea. News from other places is highly prized as merchants are sometimes willing to let small mainstays go for information. Everyone takes care of their own, and if you're looking for something Krech prides itself on being able to either provide it, or knowing where to get it. Visitors are welcomed with open arms and even if you leave a few bits lighter than you came with, you are going to have a great time.
