Harengon

Luck of the Rabbits Foot

Bounding across the wilds, Harengon from the Feywild embody a spirit of freedom and travel. Harengon are bipedal, with the characteristic long feet of the animal they resemble and fur in a variety of colors. They share the keen senses and powerful legs of leporine creatures and are full of energy, like a wound-up spring. Harengon are blessed with a little fey luck, and they often find themselves a few fortunate feet away from dangers during adventure. Often they find the crowded conditions and constant work of the Warren exhausting, and decide to try their luck adventuring. They make excellent melee combatants due to their swiftness, and because they are used to living in groups, they tend to work well in a team

Anatomy

Harengon can range dramatically in size, from about one to five feet tall, depending on the ‘original’ rabbit-type that their bloodline sprung from. They come in all normal earthy colors, from whites and grays to browns and blacks, though there are a few whose colors have also been altered due to magic. They have large, expressive eyes of varying colors and soft, furry hides that they often cover with clothing and also ear sizes that tend to be long but can vary to small.

Genetics and Reproduction

Harengon are quick to breed and form large family units, a single Harengon can reproduce up to 1- 12 young per litter which they call Kits

Growth Rate and Stages

The Harengon live in large nests and Because they birth large liters it can be overcrowded and there is always a struggle between supply and demand. Kits learn very quickly; they reach adulthood around five years of age and those that do survive live into their late 40’s. Their lives are fast, and dangerous, and this is clearly displayed in their pragmatic, quick-acting, do-or-die personalities. Kits quickly learn how cruel the world can be, and many do not make it to maturity.

Ecology and Habitats

The Harengon like to live in burrows Deep within the earth, the Harengon build massive warrens that span many miles and often form communities connected by various tunnels.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Harengon folk eat vegetables and fruit but Due to the lack of meat in their diet they must come up with creative ways of cooking to get all the things they need for survival. Many resort to baking with fruit and their favorite food carrots to keep a fine diet.

Biological Cycle

Like most humanoid races the Harengon folk mature and get old with age. Signs of that is them slowing down which is common but for a Harengon can be quite noticeable and greying in their fur.
