Great Oaks Watch

The first day of Winterfall (Feb) is observed within the worship of Rillifane Rallathil  as Great Oaks Watch, a spiritual exercise to test the resolve of those who act as agents of the Leaflord.

History

Unlike either The Budding or The Transformation, which are both holy days observed in the general Worship of Rillifane Rallathil, the Great Oaks Watch was developed by the warriors of the Leaflord. A ritual that was adopted early by the Order of the Oakstaff to emulate the Leaflord's great patience, this ritual has been handed down across the many eras of the world.

Execution

On the 31st of Darkfrost (Jan), selected warriors make their way to a predetermined campsite deep in the forest. One chosen member crafts a campfire, which will act as their heat for the next day, each member relying on the ability of this singular member. Those in attendance then take up a vigil during the entire day of the 1st of Winterfall; none allowed to interact with the fire. While in rare circumstances a flame will maintain throughout the whole day, the ritual comes typically to a test of endurance against proper action. Members are expected to know their limits as well as the limits of those around them. As Rillifane Rallathil is slow to act until the balance of nature or his follower's lives are in danger, it is excepted his followers will learn the balance in action.
