Meridian is a recontacted world at a pre-medieval technology level, somewhat equivalent to Old Terra's classical antiquity period. Isolated since the Second Interstellar Period's end, the planet was set up as a deliberately-isolated colony by a group known as the "Keepers", who believed high-tech civilizations are inevitably doomed to collapse.

Planetary Characteristics

Meridian has a surface gravity of 0.87 gees and a sea-level atmospheric pressure of about 1.2 bars. At 33% by volume, its oxygen concentration is above average, causing fires to burn fast and fierce. Even wet plants will burn if lit.

Ecology

Meridian's founders created a custom-tailored ecology for it which includes genetically-resurrected dinosaurs and human-ridable gryphons. Plants are designed for fire resistance.

Geography

Human settlement on the planet centered around an inland sea similar to the Mediterranean on Terra. North of this was a large desert which separated the inhabited regions in which the Keepers ran their "experiment" from their base in the Iron Mountain.
