Starman's Landing Hospital Building / Landmark in Starkeeper | World Anvil

Starman's Landing Hospital

Located just outside the spaceport complex of Starman's Landing on the recontacted world Meridian, this hospital was the first medical center established by the Stellar Compact's foreign-aid divisions to provide high-tech offworld medical science and treatments to the planet's inhabitants, who prior to recontact had regressed to a pre-medieval level of technology.
The building itself is unremarkable as far as architecture goes, a simple structure built out of prefab components either transported in by ship or built onsite using fabricators fed by local materials. Compared to the simple structures of the Meridianite inhabitants, however, it is quite advanced. Amenities are not as good as hospitals on developed worlds and habitats, but contains the necessities needed to stop virtually all deadly diseases and serious conditions.
The first efforts at medical foreign aid on Meridian began with the first ship to land on the planet and recontact its inhabitants, the crew used their advanced technology to cure some people suffering from otherwise-fatal conditions as a show of goodwill to earn their trust for a future technological uplift project. This, as well as further medical aid, was put on hold when Caesar Dulane rose to power and declared the formation of the Arztillan Panarchy, professing his desire to conquer the planet and throw the starmen out. It was only after his downfall at the hands of the Meridian Expedition and its allies, organized semi-secretly by the Existential Risks Directorate in order to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe which would reflect poorly on the Stellar Compact, that recontact efforts were able to resume. The initial landing site, now known to the locals as "Starman's Landing", was expanded into a spaceport and a hospital built to dispense medical aid.
Since its construction, the hospital has only rarely not been busy, people will come from far across the countryside, sometimes on canes or sitting in carts, for a chance at a starman wonder-cure which they have heard so many rumors about.

I looooove sci-fi, and there is nothing more interesting than a space hospital that is busy constantly. I can only imagine the types of maladies that are treated here (you should make some if you haven't already!)
