Captain Prex
Captain Prex is a sky pirate on the recontacted world Meridian. Commanding the flying volor-ship Rogues' Galley, he opposed the machinations of Caesar Dulane during the Arztillan Panarchy and assisted the Meridian Expedition in defeating him.
After Meridian's recontact he seems to have had little interaction with the technologically-advanced space travelers now arriving on his world, until he met up with aven Star Patrol crewmen Felden and Zandra. The two of them had crashed on Meridian after the Keeper Norla had used a fleet of replicator ships to attack the other vessels and space stations in orbit of Meridian. They convinced Prex to help them locate other survivors of this attack, and any other starmen who might now be stuck on Meridian, telling him he would be rewarded for his assistance.
This led him to an encounter with the Meridian Expedition, when he used his volor to rescue them from an attack by the Savage Hunters and Black Legion cavalry. Upon learning who they were and what they planned, Prex deviated from his prior agreement with Felden and Zandra and decided to use the starmen to break into and plunder the Iron Mountain, an abandoned Keeper facility, agreeing to take them back to the Druza Freeholds only after this.
Desiring the overthrow of Caesar Dulane, he nonetheless assisted the starmen in the Battle Over Grand Arztilla, ultimately ramming his craft into the Arztillan volor Victory of Caesar to enable its boarding and eventual destruction.
Personal History
Little is known about Prex's early life. He defected from Dulane's service some time after he declared the Panarchy (his plan to conquer and lay claim to the entire planet), taking his crew and ship, a relic Keeper volor (gravity-brake aircraft).
