This article is still a Work In Progress!
When
Elma Pritchell and her team discovered the ruined city of
Salore in the mountains of Korbasa on the east coast of
Anvil, they were not expecting it to be so untouched or unlooted.
There they discovered The Salore Hoard which contained a sizeable collection of valuable treasures which was stored in a huge vault dug into the side of the mountain.
Items of daily life were still left in the ruins of the city and Pritchell's team of researchers are still theorising what could have happened to the city to cause it to fall intact. The main theories are: a deadly disease, an invasive or predatory species that forced everyone to flee, or maybe toxic gasses escaping from the mountain as the vault was expanded further with digging.
In one of the homes in the city, Elma discovered a sizeable collection of "fertility ritual totems", among other ritualistic artifacts in the building. The collection was of great interest to Pritchell's team as they identified objects that were clearly not originating from Anvil.
The totems consist of many bizarre shapes, all made with masterful craftsmanship and finely finished. Some are made from carved stone, cast metals, blown glass, glazed ceramic, and even a large artifact made of polished amethyst.
Elma Pritchell is currently trying to set up a tourist historical site in Salore and is trying to turn it into a research center and living-museum that people can visit. The problem is trying to carry equipment up the mountains to the ruins for restoration work - and also making access for future tourism to the area.
