The settlement was built high up in the mountains of The Great Stubs and is believed to have been predominantly inhabited by a populaiton of corvidans. An ancient technology lost to the ages was uncovered on the site, which archaeologists think enabled folks to fly up and down the mountainsides to their homes.   It's unclear how such a large city came to fall but as so many artefacts remained intact, it's theorised that a sudden and horrific disease struck the inhabitants and caused them to perish. Other folks theorise that an invasive or predatory species made the area unsafe, and forced them to flee. It could have even been harmful natural gasses escaping from expanding the depths of the vault.

The Salore Hoard

The site is famous for the huge hoard of treasures that were found in a massive stone vault, carved deep into the mountainside. It's unclear if the vault functioned as a bank, ceremonial hoard, or as a loot stash from raids and warfare.   The Salore Hoard contained: ancient texts too old to read and in languages unknown, statues, coins, metal ingots, jewels, artifacts, pottery, and weapons.   Not included in the hoard but found elsewhere in the ruins were an impressive set of "fertility ritual totems".

The continent of Anvil, unsurprisingly, is named after its shape on the Auricentric map. It has a diverse range of climates that are home to many different folks, fauna, and flora.
