This popular tonge twister is all about Anka the Pirate and is very popular among seaferers around the Tentotta region. Although it seems to depict the death of Anka, nobody believes this tale to be true (much like the other legends attributed to him).
The first line, Anka's anchor sank as Anka drank a tankard of sangria., is the most popular and is often held as a drinking challenge. Each participant around a table has a tankard of ale (bonus points if you have sangria). In a clockwise direction, each person must speak the first line. If you stutter or get it wrong, you take a swig of your drink.
The next round, you have to say it a little faster and one extra time in a row. So it will continue. The person who finishes their drink first (makes the most mistakes) has to buy everybody the next round of drinks, where the game can start all over again, often with new additions to the table.
Other examples of the game involve the loser walking the plank (if the game is played on board a vessel). Bets are often placed after a few rounds of drinking, but rather than betting on the winner people bet who will lose next.
