Isles of Faran Iqueia

A series of closely laid islands in the ocean, surrounding a larger landmass. All of the isles have some form planar bleed with the Feywild. This has created both hostility and reverence towards Fey from the Isles native inhabitants.   This area is cold for most of the year with cool springs and summers never exceeding 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Days are rarely sunny and mists can be seen throughout in certain areas. As such, fashion tends towards wools and warmer clothes.

Geography

Faran Iqueia is a collection of nearby islands. Hills and highlands are common and sheer cliffs often mark the edges of the islands. Coniferous temperate rainforests decorate some undeveloped areas. Fjords carve into the edges of the islands, sometimes pooling into saltwater lochs.

The Mainland

The central landmass for which Faran Iqueia is named. It holds the capital city, Brumundheim, including Castle Ar'Aleth where the current monarch resides. The Glasstip Peaks jut up in the south, saturated with fey presence.   Anathema's Grove lies in the north, whereas Fey'Laurel's Mire sits south of the Glasstips.   Patronized by Fey'Laurel, represented by the longhorn beetle, Batus barbicornis.

Galston Island.

A northwestern island. It is mostly flat and close to sea level, making it ideal for farming. This island is north of Talrok and west of Drochrún Island. Livestock and crops make up their primary exports.
Patronized by a fey, represented by the lacebug.

Drochrún Island.

Directly east of Galston. The northern primordial forest is called the Sylphwood, as the island is notorious for being overrun with fey. The island is long, with an isthmus in its center: the Dryad's Belt.   The length of the island forces ships going to and from Galston to take roundabout journeys.

Talrok Island

Located at the western edge of the isles, Talrok Island is one of the larger islands. It is south of Galston and Drochrún Island.

The northern portion of the island is build up on tall cliffs. Much of the land is covered in pine forests, with small towns dotting the area. The southern half of the island is close to sea level, and contains the Whimsic Highlands, a range of hills overlapped with the feywild. Ciriach mines are built in this area, making Sylphstone the island's primary export. The island also specializes in breeding and raising horses and ponies.

This is the former home of Valweld'mion Gi'ila.   Patronized by the pegasus.

Catlis Island

A smaller island, south of the mainland and east of Arlingdow's Island. It is lush and green, built up mostly on high cliffs and highlands, with a few drops to a sea-level shore. Home to the Nicolayic Clan, the laird of which is a monarchist.   This island is well known for its weapons productions and exports.   Patronized by a water elemental, Cadosyne

Ardabeg Island

Off the southeastern shore of the mainland and neighboring Ruíseal Island, Ardabeg is a formerly traditionalist island. Pressure from the mainland has forced them to declare themselves monarchists.   This island is primarily used for raising livestock. It is among the flattest of the islands of Faran Iqueia, with long plains of grasslands, rarely interrupted. High winds sweep over the plains.   Patronized by a wind elemental, the Kipine.

Natural Resources

Faran Iqueia is best known for its Sylphstone deposits.   Due to the relative isolation of the Isles, the inhabitants have been able to provide for themselves for thousands of years with no need for imports. Berries, mushrooms, squash and potatoes make up the majority of vegetation farmed. Individual households maintain their own small gardens.   Acorns are harvested and turned into flour, but it doesn't appear to be popular with outsiders who dislike its bitterness. With the right processing, it can be sweet and nutty. Most regular people don't have access to those processing methods and inhabitants appear not to mind the taste.   Sheep, cattle, reindeer and horses are the mainstay of each Isle. Sheep and cattle are seen on every isle, producing both wool and meat. Horses are considered important for herding and rarely traded outside of a clan. Reindeer are critical for snow travel in the winter months. The Each-sgiath Clan is one of the few clans known to regularly trade horses and reindeer.
