I'm coming in to this late, so -- a lot of prep at once here!

Week One Homework: Make A Plan!

1. If you have more than one world setting, which one is the most important to you right now? Why? To tell you the truth, the answer SHOULD be the one I'm just calling 'Terra' right now, but the answer is sort of BOTH. I'm excited about fleshing out things that have been holding me back from continuing my existing novel in alternate-Earth, but by nature of it being an alternate Earth, there are some aspects (and thank goodness, really) that aren't as creative. Most of the things I need to do for that are more research and data based, whereas the things I want to do with (Draconia) are less so -- but more exciting.
2.Which area of that world setting will allow you to achieve your goals (eg continuing your novel/campaign, or starting a new one?). In terms of prioritizing writing, I'd like to get some work done on the 'alternate' parts of Terra. I got stuck because of trying to figure out nations and whether or not I was trying to make up new countries or use our own; I've figured out that I want to use Earth, but because of the necessity of aether, and the development of flight earlier, I need to do some history and figure out things like trade routes, politics, etc. For Draconia, I'd like to start at the beginning. I've been working backwards from concept and so I want to actually build a bit of the world and have fun with things like climate, etc.
3. How will it help you achieve those goals? Sort of said this in the first piece, but focusing in on Terra first will help me continue on what I think could be a really interesting novel that for once, I've actually planned the plot of. I'm feeling stuck because referring to nations, trade, etc -- the details -- is tripping me up and filling them in with parentheses is getting arduous.
I don't want to rule (Draconia) out, though, because I think that getting excited about something is a good thing and anything that makes me write MORE is too. So I'll let myself fixate if I fixate. If I can write 10,000 words of any articles between the two, I'll consider myself happy -- and I think that allowing myself to be creative here will also allow me to focus on my other productivity goals instead of thinking about it all day.
So, basically my goal is: DO THE THING. But with an emphasis on Terra first.
