The Fabric and The Weaver
FOR WHEN THE FABRIC AND THE WEAVER ARE FREE
AGAIN WILL THE DEVOURER SEEK HER FLESH
AND INTO DARKNESS WILL THE UNIVERSE PLUNGE
-Recurring motif in the rigid, emotionless religious art of the Great Star Empire
Summary
The Fabric and The Weaver were, as one unit, a sort of satanic figure in the strangely materialist religion of the Great Star Empire. Their imprisonment was apparently prophesied to end in the distant future, after which the end times would begin.
Some ancient artifacts identify a "Profane Gaol" within which the Fabric/Weaver pair are imprisoned, and describe the Gaol as, alternatingly, a metaphysical plane and an object. One bizarre, fragmented source, according to the translation performed by two separate teams of scholars, identifies a manufacturing plant for "components" of the Gaol, and indicate the plant's location in a galaxy not even within the local supercluster.
