Morndinsamman

Morndinsamman isn't too far off from one of the Sol homeworlds, at least to outside appearances. It's temperate, has a nitrogen-oxygen atmosphere, and is only slightly more massive than Sol III. But within its stony mountains and deep cavern systems is a wild, holy network of spiritual sacrifice. Trust nothing and beware of everything. The planet itself is a predator, seeking to devour your soul.

Geography

Morndinsamman's terrain is uneven and mountainous, but erosion and a multitude of terraforming species have carved out an underground biosphere rich in plant and animal life, underground bodies of water, and even its own weather system.

Fauna & Flora

Life on Morndinsamman is highly unusual among the animal lifeforms of the Milky Way. The trace presence of Zinc-70 in the planet's rock, an exceedingly rare isotope elsewhere in the galaxy, has allowed life on Morndinsamman to evolve rapidly using the ⁷⁰Zn as part of a unique amino acid, called Odontosine. Odontosine is a critical amino acid in many proteins of Morndinsamman species, specifically used as a sort of quantum computing protein. Due to the trace concentration of ⁷⁰Zn in the rock, as well as the vital need for odontosine among Morndinsamman species, most native species are highly omnivorous. In most cases, such as the "Pygmy" Party species, they also readily engage in cannibalism.

Furthermore, odontosine proteins clearly impart some amount of intelligence to the vast majority of Morndinsamman lifeforms. From mushroom-like fungiforms in the vast underground cisterns, to the slithering river-eels, to the diminutive, inviting Pygmies, intelligence and reasoning are widespread on the planet.

Natural Resources

Many valuable earth minerals can be mined in the treacherous underworld of Morndinsamman, but ⁷⁰Zn is for the most part worthless on the galactic markets. Its sole purpose is as a food additive for inhabitants of Morndinsamman itself.
