Iehuca Tea Ceremony

Tell you what. I've got some brandy from Cassiopeia. We can crack it open under one condition: we go back and forth explaining scars. You start, though. With the obvious one.
-Aegis, to a comrade-in-arms

Execution

The Iehuca Tea Ceremony is an empathic joining between the Iehuca and another sentient being. At its core nothing more than a personal conversation, the Ceremony can take many forms. At the conclusion of the Ceremony, the Iehuca will have gained insight into their new friend's life and mindset, and will furthermore be capable of limited-range telepathic communication with him or her.
The Tea Ceremony has no formal element nor ritual aspect, although a given Iehuca colony may develop habits and preferences. Even tea itself is not required, despite the name. Privacy and sufficient time are the two key elements of the Ceremony, as well as whatever environment will lead to the most earnest and frank sort of discussion.

Components and tools

Iehuca that choose to serve refreshments often, but do not always, keep a certain set of china or dishware for the Tea Ceremony. It is not typically an exceptionally fine set, but rather a storied one, associated with a personal anecdote. For example, a coffee mug given by a deceased friend might be an excellent choice.
