Earth wasn't always like this, old people always say. Even 50 years ago, there was far more land - huge ice sheets, even, in some places, instead of vast expanses of water! Manmade islands didn't litter the ocean quite yet, all the glittering cities of the world still firmly locked on land.   And there certainly wasn't any alien contact yet. No Coalition of Planets, no nothing - just a bunch of weird conspiracy theories and science fiction that every alien says were all totally off the mark.   There probably wasn't a towering, enormous low-orbit space station hanging in the sky over the Pacific Ocean. First Star, with its tourism initiative and charismatic, ageless leader, didn't own the entirety of the planet - hard to believe, but really! And weirdest of all, psychic powers weren't a thing - not at all!
