North Yamuhi Steppe

The geographical area south of the Mankan Mountains and north of the Yamuhi Sea and it's coastal forests.

Geography

The North Yamuhi steppe is an endless sea of grass with a few trees, groves and small forests. It is mostly flat but it is filled with with very low hills that the water flows between them when it rains. The air is cool and dry and it rarely rains throughout the year. The moisture from the Yamuhi sea goes east on the sea instead of inland due to a very strong air and water current, but enough of it stays and makes it's way inland to allow enough rains for the grasslands and lush forests on the coast in the south. The moisture that gets blown east turns north after hitting Lake Rhuli and then goes west into the Zama Jungle after reaching the Suelian Sea north of Lake Rhuli where it meets a strong air current that blows it west until it gets blocked by the Mankan Mountains.

Fauna & Flora

Flora

Mainly grasses and small shrubs. In oases where water collects or near rivers that flow all year round (Like the Chataly River) you can find groves of trees. There is also a lush forest along the coast in the south. The grasses that grow there are usually all sorts of tall grasses and cereals that one could cultivate like wheat, oats, barley, millet, as well many others.

Fauna

Wild horses, antelopes like gazelles, wolves, cheetahs, falsebird-dragons, ostriches, wild donkeys, camels, various rodents of various sizes, various migrating birds and ground birds, rhatites, lions, rhinos, aurochs, etc. there have been countless centaur sightings in the region as well. Eventually some centaurs migrated to the region in a few migration waves and caused the Guntartars some trouble by attacking their flocks and some of their convoys. In return, the Guntartars set out on extermination campaigns against them.

Natural Resources

The vast grassy pastures are used for herding sheep, goats, camels, horses, donkeys and cattle as well as hunting wild animals like wolves, antelopes, lions, birds and aurochs. some tribes learned to use cheetas to help them catch birds and small antelopes. Wood is aqquired from the few groves of trees around and usually isn't used for fuel (they usually burn animal dung for that). A lot of tribes and the most of the cities use fire to cultivate the land by burning down certain areas, planting trees or crops and harvesting /burning again. Guntartars trap and train cheetahs to use for hunting and they are sold to places abroad.
