Iriqueian

The ones who makes the best stuffed roaches

The region called "Iriqueia" is part of Northern America, and stretches from former Alaska to former California, and from former Quebec to former Mexico. But it's also part of northern Asia, as all Iriqueians come from Siberia. The peoples that live there are all related and originate from former Mongolia, Siberia and Kamtchatka, which explains why, contrarly to white, eastern ethnicities from North America, they are (basically) Asian, and have slanted eyes. They all have the same religion, except for the Doros and Sadolian people, who are monotheist. Altho, their traditions have slight differences, and Wolyapavuti people have a unique alphabet, while all the other Iriqueian languages use very similar alphasyllabaries. On the other hand, all Iriqueian peoples speak languages from the Iriqueian family.

Culture

Major language groups and dialects

Iriqueian languages. Very small traces of Djatanic or southern influences.

Common Dress code

The way most of Iriqueians dress themselves can kinda look like what Mongolians used to wear, in the middle-ages or for traditional occasions during the 20th century. Traditional coats open from the left of right side depending on the region or country, and are, most of the time, woven with camel or sheep wool, and in richer cases, with silk. On the other hand, monotheist Iriqueians like the Doros and Dartals adopted a more southern style after centuries of exchange and commerce with central-American Kalderist countries.

Common Customs, traditions and rituals

Stuffed cockroaches, altho what's inside mostly depends on the country/region. Also, Iriqueians are renowned for their tradition of metalworking and jewellery, especially in the northern countries (Woljapavut, Woljadoqut, Woljaqonut, Aleuts...).

Coming of Age Rites

In most polytheist Iriqueian countries, when a girl has her first periods, she must hunt or catch an animal that corresponds to her tribe's tatoos, and without any supervision or help.

Funerary and Memorial customs

When someone dies of natural causes, a big feast is organized, before the family members pray for the dead while their remains are burnt naked. They consider that the body is just an object, as the soul exits from it as soon as the body can no longer keep it. The prayers are supposed to help the soul reincarnate into another body.

Common Taboos

The Great Iriqueian War (also called "the War of Tears") is a big taboo for Iriqueian historians or teachers, or people in general, because contrarly to a lot of war, the good/bad sides weren't clearly defined, which is embarassing ; nobody can speak freely about it and in Woljapavut, for example, stranger radios that talk about it are censored, so no children can hear about it. Most Iriqueian governments try to make this war disappear from people's memory.

Historical figures

Onokokachut Kirata Dajal founded Woljapavut in 2299, and Kox Pachang Turang was the first man to the title of Crownbearer, in Woljapavut also, in 2371.
