The dark land of Verun holds many secrets of it's past and it's inhabitants. Trust is like a sword among wolves: it is the most powerful thing you have until you lose it. The land is stalked by vile creatures, all out to enhance their power to gain command over all other beings. Most lack the capability for sympathy. Those who do not, relish in their emotions as they torture their opposition.   Inside of their pathetic city walls, humans cower in fear. The boldness of generations past has long since left them and they lack all the mad enthusiasm their ancestors did for slaying creatures of the night. When once they rejoiced in the slaughter of fiends, now they only fear pitifully for their families. Travellers have long since abandoned the roads as military escorts become essential to even hope for safe passage across gloomy roads.   There is, however, a spark. Once in the Fate's dice roll, a person, blessed by their ancestors, is born. Ignited by a hope that one day, people will reclaim the land for themselves. These fabled people have the supernatural capability of limitless potential. They have no restrictions towards their future and they manipulate the Fates as a master does dragon-chess pieces. Those who turn away from the Fates can craft their own path.   The light in the darkness, however, can be deceiving. Such that as light can guide the way, it can also burn. Those free of the Fates can turn from the good of their people, their ancestors and may choose to corrupt instead of cure. That is their choice. But they should always know that the spark can never be quenched, and the Fates grasp often slips.
