The Rum Runners

Depending on who you ask, theirs is the most loved or hated flag to be spotted on the horizon. Led by the bombastic Captain Brandy Hawxwind and her Rum Runner crew, they were once a pirate crew that specialized in attacking the pleasure cruises of the ultra-wealthy, stealing their ill-gotten gains and taking all of their fancy refreshments with them. Captain Brandy is an orc raised on the edge of the city of Tectonia and was forced to flee her home at the beginning of the First Corporate War. After fighting for survival all her life, she eventually formed a rag-tag pirate crew to get back at the elves that destroyed her childhood home. Making quite a name for themselves stealing from wealthy elves or those that work for their corrupt companies, they were at the top of the Cerulean Ranger most wanted list.

Their ship, The Sound of Perseverance, was one of the first to be outfitted with not only solar sails but an early form of combustion magic engine to allow them to attack with lighting speed and evade the law with ease.

Notable crew members are Cognac, a steelborn engineer that keeps the ship flying. He got his name after he was found nearly broken and discarded in a barrel of cognac which stained some of the wood on his body with dark amber swirls. Rakia is a young elf magician with a knack for navigating the currents of magic, and she would much rather be studying maps and sextant readings than fighting. Billyjack Baird is an aging human pirate and the head chef on the ship. His years spent serving the wealthy on yachts and cruises left a bitter taste in his mouth, and his life of crime can be traced back to when he started stealing silverware as a busboy. VS (Vaysop Salvatore) was once a high-ranking company man for an elf corporation but joined the Rum Runners after they attacked the yacht he was on and his so-called company "friends" left him for dead. Realizing his life's work was for nothing, he turned to a life of crime.

The newest member of the crew is a scrappy young human named Mez Kalreeda, who serves as their resident sharpshooter and gunslinger. Mez has always had a deep love and respect for magic, even though he has no innate abilities.

In Whitewater, they are local heroes and champions of the little guy. In Granduo they are viewed as ruthless pirates, and their wanted posters are plastered all over the walls of their territories. In Tectonia the citizens love them, but the new rulers brought their old grudges with them.
