It is a well known fact that the winners get to write history. It is a less known fact that Empires are not built on losers; sure those conquered like to smear and distract this less known fact with details of oppression and exploitation. So often historians get messed up by these horrible details that they portray an empire as evil, undeserving, and if only some great hero came to correct the injustice (did things my way)- A utopia would have come to all the land. There is an even littler acknowledged fact; if things didn't go your way, it's because you lost. The question is; with all this determination, dissidence, & denial; who would really knows when, how, or why an Empire becomes losers. -Osnovatel' Nenadezhnogo Rasskazchika
So many fantasy settings are based after a civilization has fallen, ruins from a grander time histories turned into lore, and the forgotten items. What if you could play during those times? A republic turned empire and the beginning to fall. Could you save it or lay the grounds for new change? So many fantasy settings raise humans, elves, or dwarves as these great races; with their fey woods and deep mines. What if the great race was something different? like Orcs. What if the gods did walk the world as the ancients once believed? This is what the world of Dolg is exploring.   The Desyatina Empire, an orcin theological republic that surrounds four seas and outlines three continents has been in turmoil since turning into an Empire. Several Uboars, the title of Emperor, have come; few have died from natural causes. The commanding god Gru has barely interacted with his subjects. The divine Spinal Tower has been dark since the failed invasion the Giant's Circle; other gods plot and manipulate.
Is the Desyatina Empire set for another civil war? Is this the time for rebellion? Of course these times have their own opportunities for an individual. What brutality can come or be stopped?   This is a setting that is using the fall of the Roman Empire as it's inspiration. Do not think of it as a veneer of Orcs over Romans. There is so much D&D content to use to twist and shape that to ignore it or paste it onto the Roman Empire would produce such a poor setting.
