I use square brackets to communicate certain information in some of my articles, and I noticed that opening an article in Edit mode (using the Visual Editor) sometimes makes them disappear, and can even make some of the content inside disappear. It appears that if several words are together within brackets, the brackets and all words within, except for the very last one, are removed. There is a notable exception, in that if any numbers or special characters (such as '?') appear inside the brackets, the entire thing is left untouched. This only happens at the time of opening the editor, the characters are left untouched in the readable version of the article if they were there when I finished writing it.

This seems to break some BBCode tags as well.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Write a word or series of words within square brackets in an article, avoiding numbers or special characters (such as '!' or '?').
2. Close the article edit interface.
3. Open the article edit interface again.
4. The brackets and all words except for the last one are now missing.
