I use square brackets to communicate certain information in some of my articles, and I noticed that opening an article in Edit mode (using the Visual Editor) sometimes makes them disappear, and can even make some of the content inside disappear. It appears that if several words are together within brackets, the brackets and all words within, except for the very last one, are removed. There is a notable exception, in that if any numbers or special characters (such as '?') appear inside the brackets, the entire thing is left untouched. This only happens at the time of opening the editor, the characters are left untouched in the readable version of the article if they were there when I finished writing it.
This seems to break some BBCode tags as well.
Visual Editor, I expect all the characters I wrote into my article to remain untouched when I re-open my article for later edits. The first image shows the text (in reader mode) as I have written it, the second image shows how it is changed upon being opened in edit mode.
Hey, thanks for reporting. This is happening because brackets are used by our internal system and are removed when not applied in BBCode blocks as expected. For this not to be a problem for you, you can instead use parenthesis, curly brackets or triangular brackets!
