Hi Team. I am a brand new member of WorldAnvil on a free trial. I have just finished watching the onboarding video and have create the first of my two trial worlds. When I try to create any article of any type, upon the first autosave I get an error that the article can't be saved and a prompt to join a guild which requires a paid membership.
I chose to join in the Writer path as I am interested in using the service to help with a book idea I am developing.
Click create icon
Choose "Character"
Type a name
Error appears in red box and prompt to join a guild appears.
Try to create my first article. Expect it to autosave as suggested in the training video but get error saying "Unlimited articles is only available for a paid guild member". I am a new trial member testing the service to see if I want to use it long term.
Hello there, thanks for your feedback report! Kindly note that while there are restrictions on free accounts, you can create Character articles on the free tier. I suggest that you try a hard refresh, but you also must create a title of at least 3 characters for any article you create for it to pass validation. You can see what can or can't be done with the different account levels here: https://www.worldanvil.com/pricing
Hi Team. Thank you for your reply. When I logged back into World Anvil a few hours later I found that I can create articles and have started the process of creating my world, defining core concepts and principle characters, and starting to flesh out my ideas.
Sorry for the unnecessary bug report :(. Love this service.
Offhand, is there a way to change the core template of an article after it is created, without deleting and recreating? For example I started a document on my concepts underlying the reality of the world as a general doc, but then found you had "Nature" and "Culture" which were better fits for some of the concepts I was trying to define.
In case it's not obvious, I am happy for you to close this ticket :)
Hey PapabearNZ, thanks for the reply. No, there is no way to change the template type once its been created. I am glad to hear that everything is working well, and that you are enjoying using our website, that is why we do this, happy world building!
