But the only reason I tried to use the mention system is because the prompt info text says to use the mention system. Steps to Reproduce
Edit any character article in the new UI. Open the prompts Expand birth Mouseover Place of Birth. See that the text specifically says to use the mention system to link to location articles.

I have run into this problem, not just for the "Place of Birth" field, but various other fields.
My workaround is to use "Old Version Edit" to use the old editing interface, which works properly.
The description will be updated to not cause confusion.
