2021-07-07 - Glass Pirates Report

General Summary

When we found the heroes they were heading toward a tower that rose up out of the desert and were being flanked by three iridescent glass ships. Grim began to maneuver the ship while the others searched the boat for semaphore flags. Finding none they decided to construct them out of some contrasting coloured materials they found in the bottom of the boat. Floki pulled them together, but at that moment they rapidly began to fall out of the sky toward the ground. Zylgwynn snagged one of the flags as it nearly escaped the party. At the last moment, Grim was able to pull the ship out of a nose-dive but the ship was grounded but not destroyed.   They signaled the ship who responded back asking for parlay.   They were greeted by the Captain of one of their ships. Who told them that Martek's Trial would prove if they were thieves or if they were Martek's chosen, but that someone else was already making their way through the trial.   The party entered the dome where the trial lay and read the clue that read, "Five heroes called, a role to fill, mettle checked, a road to will." and then they headed down the stairs. The doors at the bottom of the stairs depicted a bard and Floki found notes to play which opened the door. As they moved around through the hallways they began to experiment casting spells on the medallion and several spells were saved up into the medallion. When Grim cast his, however, the medallion went skittering across the floor and into a room off to the side where scuffles could be heard.   What they found was two myconids fighting with a single yellow ooze. The party watched one fall and came to the defence of the other. However, their slashing weapons caused the creature to split and eventually found themselves engaged with four of the ooze creatures. To make matters worse two trappers dropped from the ceiling attempting to kill Floki and Cramus. The heroes were victorious and dispatched all the creatures.   The myconid attempted to communicate with the party telepathically, but Cramus resisted. The myconid called himself 'Floki' because he liked the way it sounded.   As the party traveled on they came into contact with another party who was also seeking to complete Martek's trial. This rival party mercilessly killed a myconid and then engaged the players in combat - all while the floor began to fall away. When each of the enemies were dispatched they formed into a gibbering mouther. The party knocked the mother and most of the other party down holes in the floor.   Orinn fell through he floor and was fairly banged up by the fall, but still managed to snag a vial from one of the fallen foes before they were able to form into another gibbering mouther.   The brute fled into the next room and the party began to chase.
