Session 3 : Slaves and a City Report

General Summary

The session began as night began to fall around the party. They'd come several days worth of travel with the Sandvoyagers Guild and it was time to make a decision. Did the party continue on with the Guild and confront the slavery that they were witnessing. Merosh seemed most intent on continuing on with the caravan not only to assess to the slavery situation but also to take passage to the Oasis.   They took turns on Watch with Merosh having first watch. The sun sat and the desert cooled around him and the flashing light to the west turned a dark red to match the sunset. When his watch finished Fye took second and while she watched there was a meteor shower that blazed overhead heading towards Pazar. She woke up Merosh, who was a little displeased. Third watch fell to Thallan who met up with Jamis and played chess through most of the night, Thanllan was never victorious. They talked about where Jamis had come from the Knighfall Forest looking for adventure but had been contractually bound to the Sandvoyagers Guild and was hoping to acquire quality equipment to become an adventurer. Later, on Cramus Wrenth 's watch there is an altercation between a man named Dellis and Bonli, Delis strikes Bonli with his sword and marches off into the desert toward the north.   The next morning they decide to check in with Jamis about the length of time to travel and it's 4 or 5 days if the weather is good, which it has been up to this point. Thallan and Merosh ask Jamis if he'd be interested in joining them on their travels to Pazar .   There is a brief moment where they almost tell Sekuh Andregar that they're going to take Jamis with them, but then Jamis crafts a plan to go off in search of Delis and that he will come back around to find the players as they head to the lost city.   The caravan leave the players as they head to the south east. They find a statue in the desert, half buried in sand. A table is held away out from the body and while it was difficult to see what was written on it Cramus Wrenth used his "Eight-pinned Soles" - Slippers of Spider Climbing and climbed up the statue to clean off the tablet. It read : "My name is Maniozimus. Look upon the ruins of the great city that surrounds you and despair. Here, great magic once was. Now, you see only the mighty ruins of mens' works. It could not hold back the water."   While they are watching Cramus, Jamis falls through a hole and disappears into the darkness. Merosh uses his magical rope to go down the hole and Fye jumps down to find Jamis and two giant spiders. One by one the players jump down into the hole. Cramus uses a web spell, which is ineffective. Jamis and the players jump into combat and fight the beasts, it is only Jamis who takes damage during the combat.   Once the players defeat the monsters they move their way through the buried temple looking for clues. As they get to one area, oh I should mention that Fye is a spider now, they find a buried door which they clear and enter. Inside they find a piece of parchment that says:
"thus facing the great doors, and passing the right hand before them speak "Sakha al Jinni." Then approach the first and speak "Alhamduhla," so shall the way be open unto you. Speak then "Bismilla" and "Duban" and thee shall be within they hand's reach of the greatest of all..."   There was significant confusion between them as to how to open the doors and it is finally Thallan who moves, with little hesitation to open the doors and the 3 veils as they approach the alter with the Star of Aga-Pelar set inside the white marble surface. They use a levitation spell to raise the star out of it's socket and then...the ground begins to shake and laughter echos through the coridor and a voice booms in your ears.
"So Martek thought he could hold me. He thought that five could defeat me. I am the Efreeti who will destroy your world and you have unleashed me on this desert. Nothing will stop me. I am not afraid of an old dead human. I come from another world and you cannot even begin to imagine my power.   The entire complex begins to shake and fall around the players.
