2021-05-05 - Badr to the Bone Report

General Summary

When we left our heroes last they were flying across the desert with a two-fold idea; save the princess and at the same time secure one more of Martek 's stars. All clues on both fronts had lead towards the Crypt of Badr Al-Mosak and Badr the bad. Badr is shrouded in mystery, he seems to be aligned with Khalitharius and yet claims to be just as powerful.   Their journey, however, lead them to the crypt and two monstrosities that guarded the entrance. Large rocs and several death mozzies rose up to confront the flying ship and the seven people aboard.   They pulled out every trick they could find. Merosh cast a major illusion, successfully drawing one roc and several mozzies off their tail. Using the pharaoh's staff, Cramus Wrenth called a thunderstorm which caused many of the creatures to flee in terror and in the meantime supercharged the lightning attack of Fye. Grim deftly navigated the ship around the swarm of creatures toward the statue and the entrance to the crypt while Belus let loose lightning blasts and Floki used his ball gunner turret to hammer several flying creatures. They landed without a scratch and the rocs and mozzie's fled away.   Beneath the statue, they found the entrance to Badr's crypt, a shaft that dropped into the darkness. They debated seeing if they could maneuver the ship down into the depths, but ultimatelydecided against it. The spider team, Cramus and Fye, walked down and found a blade meant to slash ropes as someone climbed down. Cramus used web to create spiderweb over a hole that continued down into the dark. They lept, all holding hands and Merosh cast featherfall they gently fell to the ground.   "You had that the whole time?" Thallan asked, forgetting momentarily about the time they were trapped in a grand magnet.    The room appeared to be a dead-end, a statue at the end of each. One with blades nearly ribbonized Grim, who misty stepped his way behind the statue and then broke his way out. Cramus explored one that everyone knew had fireballs and sure enough, he was nearly fireballed to death.   Fye spidered around the others while the party discussed different ways to escape. She apparently felt tipped off by a smirking diety and found a way behind one statue to a hidden room and the rest of the temple.   The temple, they would learn belonged to Uluru once but had been commandeered by Badr the Bad.   While they explored they found the remains of Pepper Potts, the friend of Happy Hogan Underwood. They also found a group of spectres that were not inclined to fight. Even though they were tasked with guarding the area Uluru had ordered them to let the party through. It conflicted with their nature. Their leader did inform the party that one must "go down to go up."   They explored around using hidden doors to navigate down and around the former temple. They found several obelisks which seem to answer any question posed. The answers appeared to be, unhelpful.   Ultimately they ended up in a room with a glass alter, one that as they approached maked their magical items hum and vibrate slightly. A sacrifice is asked for. Grim stood over it, ready to place his sword but in the last moment, Thallan placed Thallen's Letter Opener on the alter and a flash of light engulfed the item and ultimately the room.
