Session IX : The Plundered Tomb Report

General Summary

The party entered the Plundered Tomb and as soon as they were in they found a hidden doorway. Merosh noticed that the statue had been moved based on grooves he found on the floor. The party moved the statue of Amun-Re, but not without the help of everyone in the party, it was too heavy for just Merosh and Thallan . From there they found another which opened into another secret hallway, this one seemingly less traveled. The hallways stretched out in front of them. Merosh lit a candle and it rolled down the long hallway partially revealing a room at the far end.   They continue on down into the depths of the pyramid the temperature dropping around them and they come to a room seemly dedicated to Amun-Re, seven statues line the walls all of the late pharaoh and in the centre of a the room an alter with imprints of hands. Etched into the wall in language after language is the name "Amun-Re ."   When Thallen uses Thallen's Letter Opener on the etching, he hears in his head a voice saying, "I hope they don't lock us in here when we're done with this."   It is Thallan who realizes the key to opening the next doorway when Merosh places his hands in the hand holds Thallen encourages Merosh to say "Amun-Re" and when he does a statue swings open, revealing a hidden passageway.   They enter the hidden passageway and a single ballbearing is rolled down the hallway. At the end of the hallway they find THE TREASURE ROOM, or so it claims. Pots have been shattered and chests have been broken. There appears to be nothing of value found her. As if to overstate itself the room that once contained treasure has written in many languages "TREASURE ROOM," but none remains.   The final room is the crypt which has been broken open and nothing but dust remains. It would appear that Amun-Re's treasure has already been looted. The inscription above the tomb says, "Here lies the true tomb of Amun-Re. Know that ye have arrived too late to plunder my ransom for heaven's gate."   The party is not convinced that this is the true treasure room and decide to continue searching the tomb. They retrace their steps, although not before Merosh pockets a shard of pottery.   The players retreat back through the Tomb and there they find two large openings in the floor, slimy and slick circular entrances that drop down into blackness, where not even a firebolt from Cramus Wrenth can reveal the bottom, but still they hear the sound of water.   The parties exploration takes them further towards the entrance as they retrace their steps and in a side corridor, following voices they find several men worshiping at a statue of Amun-Re this statue is larger than the others and in it he holds a large basin filled with a bluish fire. They watch as one of the men offers a sacrifice and it is immediately removed from the basis as the flames rise. Merosh  rushes up the stairwell and almost without hesistation he leaps putting his whole body inside the basin. The flames reach up his body and he is gone.    The other's follow quickly, with Jamis Frostshadow being the most cautious of all.   Thankfully, the players are not consumed by the fire but instead teleported ruther into the tomb. Landing disoriented on the ground they find a room with four doors and a skeleton with a sword pointed towards one or the doors.   As the players inspect the room they find several leavers on the wall and after a few moments of debate decide to flip all the leavers at once. When they do a magnet is turned on in the ceiling and all things metallic are dragged up, Merosh and Thallen feel the tug of their studded armour dragging them up and up and up. Cramus's key is lauched from his neck and his finger is shredded as his ring is dragged off. It is Fye and Jamis who turn off all the leavers and featherfall returns the two from the ceiling safely to the ground.   Once on the ground they evaluate their options and Fye and Merosh tie a rope around themselves and head off into the disorienting orange swirling mists that seem to exist in each tunnel.
