Session 11: The Court is in Session Report

General Summary

The Session started with the group partying in the bar from the end of last session. Li was taken off by Taylor, Jake, and their Hornet Pod (player absent) while Anna and Warren returned to the ship (player's absent).   Dash managed to overhear Georgie-Boy recanting a story of his time on the Salter's Peppers to what appeared to be a new Mercenary Group he was joining. He was talking about running into Chiara and started describing her and her mutation. The older mercs from the Blades faction definitely seemed to be aware of who Chiara was and were outraged by the fact that she was not only alive but in the Hanger hiding in the Salter's Peppers. Dash and Jason tried to salvage the situation through some deception but unfortunately failed. The drunken mob began to form and were at least persuaded to go out of the bar.   Dash and Kyra ran back to the ship to hide, prepare, and warn Chiara. Dash took up a position outside of the ship, sent Slade and his painting team home early, and drew a line outside the docking ramp with a paintbrush. He partially closed the Docking Ramp to avoid cutting off the long bundle of cabling and wires running up to the Cockpit where Mad Al worked. Kyra ran in with Anna to find Chiara. Kyra used the Beautifier to make herself have red hair and green eyes to show Chiara but Chiara refused to change her face with the statement "The Doctor needs to see me, what she did to me, when I kill her". They didn't press it and hid her in the Smuggling Compartment in the Cargo Hold. Dash asked Kyra to get him his Assault Rifle hanging by the closed Ramp. Instead of opening it, in her drunken state she grabbed the guns and climbed the bundle up the slanted Ramp to toss them through the hole, but her weight snapped the cables. Dash posted up with his Assault Rifles and threatened the couple of thugs that sat watching him from a distance while waiting for the rest of the mob to arrive.   Meanwhile, Jason went back into the bar, recruited a couple of the Tempest Blades that he'd impressed with his double-dosing of Gutpunch earlier that day, and led them outside to "Johnny-All-Hands" the mob. He grabbed a pipe (which he opted not to use) and approached the mob that was gathering steam. He and the inciter, Irwin, ended up having an all-out brawl wherein they both managed to match each other. The brawl eventually turned sour when the mob that had surrounded Jason and Irwin turned on Jason's two guys and began swarming Jason as well. After the two dropped, all but a handful (5) ran towards the Salter's Peppers to storm it. Jason and Irwin eventually stood down and came to terms that while the fight wasn't over, their brawl had lost all sense of honor when the mob jumped in on Jason. They backed off and headed off towards the Salter's Peppers their separate ways.   The mob stormed the Salter's Peppers while Dash remained outside. The main instigator, the man who had caused the scene in the bar, pulled Georgie-boy forward. Dash had one last attempt to convince them Chiara wasn't on board but failed to sway them. Jason appeared but stammered his way through trying to deceive them as well. Dash instead casually shot the leader in the head with the Hand of Fate, braining him. The mob of 20 immediately swarmed towards him. Irwin's group seemed to hang back while a final, heavily armored and armed group apparently just off of a mission (only referred to in session as Everett's Team) moved forward and returned fire. Jason jumped in and battled their leader with his vibroblade while Dash solely gunned down members of the mob. Dash was eventually swarmed and managed to keep them at bay using his Gun Kata training. Jason managed to demonstrate his Cyborg Might when fighting Everett's squad and soaked burst after burst of gunfire while battling. He eventually prevailed by cutting Everett's arm deeply, knocking him out with the flat, vibrating side of the blade, and convincing the remaining 4 squad members to stand down (they seemingly were only fighting due to Everett's personal vengeance for Jose Clappe, the Blade member Chiara killed).   Meanwhile, Kyra was confronted by a truly outraged Mad Al who stormed in furious that his line was cut and his work was ruined. Kyra promised him an extra 1000 Credits and a second Charcuterie board to calm him down. She headed up in the Turret to use it to threaten groups in the mob (while avoiding firing it inside of the ship). He opened the docking ramp in the middle of the battle, stormed out, fixed it, and stormed in through the mob seemingly unaware or indifferent to the massive brawl and firing weapons. He and Dash (then Anna remotely) had a short technical battle of trying to keep the door closed vs opening it to fix the wires. Unfortunately, this did allow 4 of the mob to slip into the Cargo Hold during the Chaos.   As Jason ran into the fight, no one noticed the group that stepped out of the gathering crowd of spectators. Lady Ash, her entourage, several shades with grenade launchers, and the Shieldbrovs stood above the field of battle. Her team fired 2 flashbangs and 1 tear gas grenade into the surviving mob. This disoriented and took all but 4 of them out of combat. Dash, unaffected and succumbed to his Indifference to Life, turned and shot down 3 of them in a hail of Assault Rifle bursts. He felt a swarm of regret as he killed not only people that were defenseless but also not marked by Fate to die. Jason jumped between the last one and Dash to protect the last survivor (who immediately surrendered). Jason turned to face the approaching Court while Dash ran into the Cargo Hold.   Chiara had revealed herself, knived 2 of the searching drunken mob in the back of the legs, and turned to see Dash enter with a "I shouldn't have let you fight my fight for me". One of the injured turned and cursed at her, Dash gunned him down. The remaining 3 fled out to the mercy of the Court. Lady Ash arrived and assigned immediate punishment of "Frayed" or "Brig" to every member of the battle. She went into the Cargo Hold to let Dash and Jason explain themselves. As she did so, she saw Chiara, embraced her, said something between them in a moment of tenderness (that no one else was able to hear), and gave her something no one was able to Notice. She turned back, let them explain themselves, and accepted that she would try to resolve this with the Court for 2 favors each (out of the several deals offered). She declared the girl in the cargo hold to not be Chiara and thus the incident to be a case of mistaken identity and that the court would immediately hold session to determine punishment.   All but 3 of the 8 bodies Dash gunned down were taken away immediately by friends and family, the last 3 remained all day until the Court sent a team to clean them up. The Salter's Peppers crew mostly remained hidden in the ship for the rest of the next few days. Jason made his way out the next day, bought the 2 Tempests that fought with him a drink to say thanks, and was given a drink from Everett (with his arm in a sling) to acknowledge a respect for the fight. Kyra was approached by Auntie at the ship who gave her some information about "Uncle Barabas" and mentioned that he was straining all of his resources and friendships over this dang tree he keeps talking about, and gave her a message to give to him regarding backing off on it a bit to "leave some favors unused for tomorrow". Dash remained inside the ship with a sense of outrage and anger from many passerbys who seemed to hold him responsible for murdering the 8.
