Session 34: A Universe Forever Changed Report

General Summary

Introduction

As the celestial symphony of twinkling stars unfolds across the vast expanse of the galactic tapestry, we find ourselves floating in the edges of the Hersperus Nebula drifting before a suddenly appearing vessel, our conduit through the cosmos tonight. The black-painted hull glistens almost imperceptively under the distant light, a silent streak of black against the star-laden void filled now with mists of green and purple hues. Barely noticable neon lights trace a subtle path along the ship's central deck, casting an ethereal glow amidst the darkness. An odd retracted ram stands poised and ready to be deployed at the ship's stern, a potent reminder of the vessel's power and purpose. We drift into the cockpit and the anticipation-laden air within, where we find our pilot and Captain Tumerian Li Shen standing with a resolute gaze. His hands are poised above the controls as he plots the remainder of the current course, ready to shape the destiny of this ship's maiden voyage.
As we continue past him down the sleek hallway, we pass the Systems Room where Burt Bilson and his girlfriend Astrid work together to meticulous setting up a sleeping cot by the systems control panel. Any eyes watching in the darkness, from this world or any others, may note the camaraderie and fondness evident in every shared smile and exchanged word. We continue through the ship as it hums with a quiet intensity, dancing the line between unnervingly quiet while providing a steady heartbeat of engines, vents blowing air, and the hum of thousands of systems maintaining everything needed for its living occupants. Moving forward down this technological marvel towards the beckoning cantina. Within, we find the haven of relaxation for you all amidst the interstellar journey. Within the room, freshly returned from delivering bags, setting up bunks, and acquainting themselves with the ship, we see Kyralin Straussendorph, Rose, Jay, Ronin, and Chiara wandering into the centralized room from its various entrances. Their occasional laughter and conversations intertwine with the gentle thrum of the ship's systems as they return for the grand, discussed moment that looms before them...their ship's naming.   However, not all minds are on the fun task of naming their new home. Not a week past, Li and Ronin found themselves amidst an ambush of a simple messenger ship for the Krasian Meritocracy. Though their hacker, Lira, was injured and their Tempest Guard was killed before even boarding, they managed to intercept a handful of very important datacubes, though 20 of which seem of greatest import to Li himself. This was taken to Burt Bilson, who decrypted it with Rose's help and learned of a new weapon's system being tested by Krasia in the nearby Nibian System. The rest of the team was assembled soon after, given their mandate by Lady Ash of the Court of Scavs, and sent out to follow this information to its conclusion and arrive by the listed date of 5:7:2353GS. After introductions, Ronin and Li slipped off for a little while and one of them returned with a somewhat shocked look on his face from things revealed. However, the current date is 2:7:2353GS, and as you each stand here in this fleeting moment, the decrypted message echoes in your minds and sets the stage for the journey ahead. The Nibian System awaits you, a beacon amidst the starry sea, 17 light-years distant from you now.  

Highlights

The majority of the game was over 2:7:2353-5:7:2353 traveling between the Hersperus Nebula and the Nibian System. Everyone spent some time getting to know each other, getting to know the ship, and naming it Iridium Dawn.   They also converted the spare Bunk into a Secret Brig with the following criteria: -Internally - Tech Clean Room except for one panel connected to nothing (9 Investigation/Intrusion) -Deception (It Doesn't Look Like a Brig + Fake Hackable Panel) - (9 Deceit) -External Security (How Hard it is to Break Out) - (10 Technical)   They approached the Nibian System and landed outside of the Asteroid Field soon after.

Nibian System

Introduction

As you enter the Nibian System, you're greeted by the vastness of space, with the distant glow of Nibian 3, a bustling Trade Hub, on the horizon. The system is filled with floating debris and shards from the past conflicts, and among them, you spot an abandoned Utopian Mining Colony, Nibian 6. The broken dome of the colony floats ominously, with shards of spaceships and fighters orbiting around the asteroid. Among the debris, you notice beautiful but eerie black dead tree branches drifting gracefully. The Nibian System's silence is punctuated by distant echoes of transmissions from the Krasian Meritocracy's blockade.

Gameplay

They entered the Nibian System and navigated through the Asteroid Belt to approach Nibian 6. They scanned and didn't see any other ships that indicated the "weapons test" was already in the system. They moved towards Nibian 6, which was orbiting near Nibian 6 at the time. They headed towards Nibian 6.

Background Scene: Li & Ronin

We established as they approached Nibian 6 and observed the damage that Li and Ronin were in the battle for Nibian 6 during the war. They examined the remainder of the colony and remembered fighting to get FreeST citizens off the planet while Krasian forces began bombarding the dome.   Soon after, they found an odd muted signal coming from beneath the mining colony's surface. As they started to investigate, they also picked up on 2 ships approaching the interior of the system. They moved and went into stealth mode around the debris. They observed as the signal on the colony proved to be a FreeST tagged ship (which bolted soon after the other ships arrived and approached).

Danger Approaches

They detected the Krasian Patrol Ship and the U-Boat it was escorting. They approached steadily towards Nibian 6, the crew noting its slowness. As soon as the Patrol Ship broke off and headed for the asteroid belt, they darted towards the U-Boat. They came in with guns blazing as they fired at the automatic turrets that fired back. They rammed the U-Boat perfectly, immediately detonating the EMP spike.
