Session 23: The Last Straw Report

General Summary

Recap:

1. After returning to Northal Castle from their grim task, Celrin and Wren go to report their success to Baron Volbrecht. Volbrecht expresses his gratitude, and tells Wren he'll consider her an international diplomat for the Institute; also agreeing to get started on a prototype for a printing press.
2. Noppa and Eleonora meanwhile, have been spending their time on the house's new upgrades, including a second floor with extra bedrooms, a more expansive library, and an office for The Elegant Spark.
3. Wren heads back home, while Celrin tries to heal a bit from her injury at the hands of Jhin's shadow, going to Northal's church and acquiring the reluctant help of Noppa's retainer, Ilma.
4. Eleonora and Noppa very officially scrutinize Wren's decision, which causes Wren to admit her regret. Much of the party spends their time alone, when Celrin finally arrives back at the house. Noppa vents his frustrations on one of the dummies downstairs, and Celrin makes dinner for the house in the evening.
5. A tense conversation is held over dinner, by the end of which Noppa explains he'll be leaving the group for some time. After dinner, Noppa asks to speak with Wren, wanting to hear her side of the story and say his goodbyes.
6. The conversation between Noppa and Wren is brief, but sentimental, and Noppa continues throughout the house, saying goodbye to everyone but Celrin. When Noppa goes to talk to Nora however, he's surprised to find that she wants to come with him; in part to keep him company on his journey, but also to explore for her own sake.
7. Both Noppa and Nora depart, with Skoll staying as long as he can beside Wren until he's eventually forced to return to Noppa's side.
8. The morning after, the party is visited by Jhin, as well as an unknown guest. Jhin introduces the person with him as Melyre, an assassin who recently attempted to kill him. Jhin describes that he thinks she'll a great help to the party, and laments Noppa's departure.
9. The party's hesitant to accept their new companion, but Jhin quickly steers the conversation towards future missions for the group. He mentions the need to get rid of a prominent Secran general, learn more about the Bloodfire Compact, and handle the Lessou/Capris conflict in order to gain one of the sides as an ally.
10. After some debate, as well as a small piano lesson for Eleonora, the party settles on the Lessou/Capris conflict as their next target.
