Session 24: Between Rivers and Avians Report

General Summary

Recap:

  1. Following Jhin's departure, and the arrival of the new party member Melyre, The Fifth Soul sets out towards the Kingdom of Lessou via Cadgegap. Seeing that Northal's Cadgegap is now full operational, they make the journey over.
  2. Lessou is a kingdom known for its commerce, and while arriving in its capital, Trious, the party pays a sum of 300 gold for their use of arriving at the city's Cadgegap. After the gold is paid however, they're free to roam about the city as they'd like, discovering the expanse of the city of Trious.
  3. The city is made of several notable tiers, with the castle at its height, and the ports at the bottom. The party heads towards the castle, finding its entrance guarded by a gatehouse. The guards ask the party their business, but without the paperwork to properly identify them as emissaries, the guards turn them away.
  4. In lieu of this, Eleonora heads off back to Northal to retrieve proper documentation from Jhin, paying even more gold for her use of the Cadgegap. Meanwhile, Celrin and Wren head off to find a bookstore.
  5. Eleonora arrives at Northal quite quickly, and heads over to the castle, where judging by a bag left by her door, Meta has returned. When she goes to Jhin's room to find him, it appears he's busy, and he prompts her to wait downstairs for a short while. Meta comes across Eleonora as she waits, and explains that her father passed away, with her brother missing. In good news however, it seems as though the defense of Penn has been successful, and more sinisterly, Meta is unaware of the party's involvement. Jhin arrives shortly after, and gives Eleonora the papers she needs.
  6. Back in Lessou, Celrin, Melyre, and Wren find a bookstore within the city, hosted by an old Akostón woman named Maria. She helps Wren research a little more about the task given to her by her mentor, as well as teaches Wren a spell of her own. The party departs from the store, with Wren quite satisfied with her discoveries.
  7. Everyone meets back up shortly after, once again heading back to the castle in Trious, and this time being admitted with their proper documentation. In grand, finely decorated halls, the party is subject to wait shortly as they're afforded a meeting with the minister of Trious, Minister Bernard. He hears the party's offer, and realizes what they're asking is beyond the scope of his influence; opting to arrange a meeting with the prince of Lessou for them.
  8. It's another short instance of waiting before they're greeted again, this time by a handsome young man wearing fine armor, and bearing the crest of the Lessou royal family. It's the prince of Lessou, Prince Etienne, whom discusses the party's offer of an allegiance between Lessou and Northal, as well as the terms of that allegiance. It's decided that if the party can show that Northal is capable of assisting with the threat of the Capris Armada, Lessou will heavily consider Northal's offer; though Secrix is also attempting to negotiate with Lessou, and failure to do so in a timely manner may result in Lessou siding with Secrix instead.
  9. With the terms of allegiance set, the party heads north to seek out the front of the Lessou/Capris conflict. While camping in the woods however, the party is suddenly ambushed by two groups. As if the retribution for Celrin's actions had manifest in a single moment, the women whom Celrin had tortured, Porche, the leader of the bandits previously occupying the Halcoast Manor, and Svenja, the female member of the now destroyed Bloaters both assaulted their camp. After nearly killing the party, Celrin managed to use her abilities to keep to the shadows of the woods, slowly picking off each assailant one by one. In the process of her counter-attack, she managed to discover a third party, simply watching in amusement at the whole affair; Marius Woemesh, again accompanied by Wanda, Eleonora's sister.
  10. After Celrin defeated the remainder of her assailants, capturing Svenja and Demonia alive, Marius and Wanda left; with Marius seemingly disappointed with the result of the conflict. The party picked themselves up to rest again, but Wren had an odd display, visible only to Eleonora and Celrin.
