Session 10: The Mad Immortal Report

General Summary

Recap:

  1. After leaving the event at Baron Oelrich's estate, the party made a dash over to the titular castle towards the north of the city, ballista fire and thunderous rain filling the nightscape.
  2. As the party rushed through the streets, several obstacles veered into their way, but with some cunning and well made rolls, they pushed passed Baron Oelrich's forces to the castle; with enough time to find a secluded entrance.
  3. Behind the castle, hidden among a sharp jagged coast, was a cave that appeared to serve as a hidden entrance/exit. As the party made their way up however, a strange stalagmite-like creature assaulted Celrin, but was quickly dispatched of.
  4. The cave's hidden connection to the castle lead the party into what appeared to be a crypt of some sort, tucked away in the rear of the castle.
  5. After some minor grave robbing, everyone began to stealth through the castle, battle ensuing, in order to find Jhin and Meta.
  6. In the uppermost quarters of the structure, the party found Meta, partially wounded, and she urged them to rush to the throne room to save Jhin.
  7. Now barreling through the castle, the party saved a group of trapped servants and guards, and burst into the throne room, where Jhin was now being held hostage by Baron Oelrich.
  8. Baron Oelrich demanded the party let go of their weapons, and just as they were complying, a burst of thick fog filled the room.
  9. In the chaos, Jhin was brought out of the room, but not before being shot, and the fog was dropped. The party continued to fight, with guards getting kicked off of balconies, chaos bolts flying, and Wren preventing Baron Oelrich from escaping.
  10. After Oelrich's defeat, it was now up for the Jhin to decide what to do with her, but it appeared as those his disposition had changed since last the party saw him. The jovial king they'd come to know now had the face of an apathetic disposition, and the party was put off by his disregard of Oelrich's punishment, leaving it up to the party to decide her fate.
  11. After some deliberation, Baron Oelrich's life was spared, and the party learned more of Jhin's intentions, hearing him describe his plans to take over the entirety of the Ertsland Valley, and a display of Jhin's abilities.
  12. For some immediately inconceivable reason, Jhin appeared to be immortal, not dying from the bolt lodged in his chest, and even more gruesomely, getting an arrow fired directly into his neck. Not only that however, but it appeared the 'black shadow' the party had been seeing was also directly under his control, and was being used to spy on them occasionally.
  13. Jhin offered to answer several questions the party had, and explicitly stated that he had further plans for them; saying that he wasn't going to have them leave anytime soon.
  14. The party picked themselves up, now seeing the grand web they've been roped into, and returned home to process the information they'd discovered. Finally, they've earned some rest. For now.
