Session 27: Some Allies Lost, New Ones Gained Report

General Summary

Recap:

  1. With a bittersweet victory, the party escapes off into the night, and lands the Culler in order to rest.
  2. In the following morning, Wren is the first to see Marius Woemesh looming over Celrin's corpse, as he remarks his disappointment in his fun being cut short. Before extracting Celrin's soul from her body, Marius candidly remarks to Wren an offer to become his next project, and heads off.
  3. Uneasily, the party continues their travel back to Divasé, where they eventually abandon the Culler to avoid being shot down by the restless Lessou soldiers stationed there. Eleonora and Wren are the first to arrive, explaining to the Lessian commander that Kel has been killed, and showing Kel's gauntlet as proof.
  4. Commander Jean immediately seeks to reward the party for their efforts, baffled at the death of Kel, and tells them they can rest at the Divasé military camp until tomorrow morning, where they'll be given a private ship to transport them to Trious for their reward.
  5. Just as promised, Commander Jean gives the party a ship transport the following morning, during which, in the cabins, Wren discovers a particularly curious skull that has been left on the table. Upon Eleonora's inspection of the skull, it begins to talk, which prompts Eleonora to beam the skull to the ground in sheer terror.
  6. The skull, partially in pain due to the aforementioned throwing, explains that his name is Kane, and he's a ship captain who's been separated from both his crew, and his body. Wren, realizing the nature of this creature by the marking on its skull, explains to everyone that this creature is a Soulreaved, a person who's soul had been captured by someone else upon death.
  7. The party tentatively agrees to help Kane get back to his ship, despite his comparably laughable reward of 100 gold pieces per person.
  8. Arriving in Trious, the party heads to the castle at the apex of the city, and meet again with Minister Bernard, who tells them that the queen herself wishes to meet them. Following the minister's lead, they're brought to a beautiful garden, when they see that besides Prince Etienne and a pair of knights, there's the queen of Lessou, who's apparently being buttered up by a surprisingly present Jhin.
  9. The queen introduces herself, and offers the party a staggering reward of 16,000 gold pieces for the elimination of Kel, as well as a militaristic alliance with Northal in good faith; the terms of which are to be discussed between the party and Prince Etienne.
  10. Now off in the Lessian war room, Prince Etienne begins the negotiations of the alliance, when an Eriosian diplomat barges in, demanding that the prince holds up the deal they made together. The prince promptly arrests the diplomat, sending both him and his knight to prison, and continues with the agreements.
  11. After everything's been settled, the party is allowed to do a modicum of shopping around the Lessian trade hub, getting quite a few goodies for their troubles. When they're done and ready to head home, they see that Jhin's waiting for them. Jhin seemed rather apathetic to Celrin's death, and more interested in the party's new companions. After Melyre introduced Kane, Kane grew strangely silent, not saying a word to anyone until Jhin was gone.
  12. After Cadgegap travel back to Northal Castle, the party returned Kane back to his ship, and he properly introduced himself and his entire crew of Soulreaved; as well as made good on his promise to compensate the party. Eleonora headed off to visit her mother, yet discovered that her old home was strangely surrounded by a congregation standing over an urn.
  13. A woman in the crowd explains to Eleonora that her mother suddenly became terminally ill, and that she died within the week. Eleonora, mourning the loss of her mother, went inside her old home, and discovered Wanda waiting inside for her. Wanda began to criticize Eleonora for being absent in their mother's time of need, yet agreed not to fight out of respect for their mother's passing.
