Session 29: Revoking a Throne Report

General Summary

Recap:

  1. With landing the main airship of the Capris Armada, the party solidified Northal's victory against the Aarakocran invaders, and returned to greet Eleonora who'd been spending the siege defending her store.
  2. They reconvened briefly to contemplate when to move out for the assassination of the king of Secrix, and ultimately decided to rest before heading out.
  3. While at home, they were visited by Jhin and Meta, who came to check up on the party after the siege. Jhin asked if the party intended to use the Capran airship, and when they said no, he figured it'd be a good source of material for repairs needed across the city. Meta meanwhile, checked in with the goings-on of the party, and opted to spend the night sleeping over while Jhin returned to the castle.
  4. In the following morning, the party headed out on Kane's ship to Secrix, plotting their assassination attempt. It only took them three days to arrive to their ideal location by ship, but it was another half a week before they reached the city by land, on the plateau overlooking Secrix Castle.
  5. As per their plan, most of the party hopped off the overlook; using Wren's ability to slow their descent to make their way to the roof of the castle undetected.
  6. From there the party gradually and methodically made their way level by level, using Melyre's knack for assassination to help guide them through the castle without being spotted, and leaving only two bodies in their wake.
  7. Eventually suspecting the king may have moved from the fourth floor to the basement, Melyre helped guide the party further down, with Eleonora making good use of their newly acquired portable hole.
  8. Now finally at the underground base of the castle, the suspected target of their plot seemed to be within one of the wings of the castle's crypt; Melyre pinpointing their direction towards the north.
  9. Melyre began to open up the locked door, and the party's attention shifted to a statue of moving stone representing a large hoplite soldier; rearing to defend the crypt's doors, and the treasure therein.
