Between the Feet of Giants Report

General Summary

After returning from their first hand encounter with Amaranthos' Fel-Corruption, the Masters decided to at least hear the other side of the story, meaning the Elder Lich Amaranthos himself. Amaranthos lair is easily to find, if you have the ability to watch Mykellios from orbit. A slowly growing area of darkness on the Northern part of Xen'Drik is hard to miss, especially with a great Castle at the middle of it. Leylin guided the Cirael savely through the orbital debries of the former two moulting shells of the Eberronian Astral Dragons and docked at one of the crumbling spires of Amaranthos' new home. The Masters were somehow surprised to be welcomed by a member of the Midnight Aristocracy and learned that most of the Vampires of Telosha had made it to Mykellios. Amaranthos had apparently crowned himself King of these, ever so slighly desparate, Undead. The audience with Amaranthos himself went well. Both sides agreed, that the Slaan must be stopped from performing the ritual and the King even gifted a dozen human slaves to the Masters as a gesture of good faith. Back in orbit and outside of the scrying senses of the Slaan, the Masters dicovered, that the slaves had been charmed so often and intensly, that it will take quite some time for them to regain their faculties. In order to facilitate a faster route back to sanity, the Masters decided to drop off the slaves in Soulhaven, handing them over to the ever-loving care of Darna and Leylins divine magic. Arnulf decided to visit his grove again, since the felt a slight disturbance in the powers of Nature. The Masters contemplated how to proceed further. Leylin remembered some bits and pieces of his former live and his first visit to the Free City of O'Maega and its mysterious leader Adria T'Lor. With her blessing it should be easy to hire a sizeable mercenary force and pacify both Amaranthos and the Slaan. The Underdark was ruled out as a source of potential allies against the Southern factions. So the Masters decided to visit the only unknown player in the bid for power on Mykellios: The Azientic Republic up North of Soulhaven. In this timeline The Azientic Republic was hidden by a gigantic Mythal, covering an area of about 1000 miles diameter and five miles height. The Masters only knew about the Republic from their former timeline and in this timeline only the thick cloud coverage of the global winter on Mykellios gave hints to the exitance of the Mythal, if you looked closely from orbit. The Masters prodded the powerful Mythal cautiously, only to discover, that extremly powerful and godly illusions lead anybody away from the place the Mythal was protecting. Using the Mythal breaking blood ritual learned by the Blood Elves in the Feywild, the Masters where able to break a 900 feet wide opening in the Mythal, enough to make their presence known, but too short to allow anybody more than the Masters, Maelek and the Royal Guard through. The inside of the Mythal appeared as an Utopia. Avariel lived their lives in harmony, calmness and without any need or challenge. The leader of a local settlement near the edge of the Mythal invited the Masters to their capital, a city of impossible high spires and tens of thousands of Avariel living a life of bliss. The Masters convinced the Avariel to call in the Council of Winds, their central governing body. But in their time waiting, they realized, that these elves did not understand the concept of strife or challenge. Suspecious of it all, the masters investigated further and found a large counter-dome below the surface, full of Gondic Mechanisms and drones. Their investigation lead them to the Septadrone leading the local meachnism, a being apparently not purely made of Mechanus, but a mixture of influences of both Gond and Mystra. The Septadrone revealed, that the Azientic Republic had been identified as detrimental to the plans of The New Alliance of Gods, led by Mystra. This fate also applied to the remnants of the Azientic Imperium and the Kedmeric tribe of the Necaen. The Masters decided to leave the Septadrone be and return to surface.
