Review

The Bad Ideas awake in the Angry Goose hung over. Before they can dwell much on last night, Andrew knocks on thier door 'Someone wants to see you'   The party make their way outside to see a blockade of Traskin guards with Nick Ryder. Nick gets them in and tells Tol he needs his help with a 'situation' Meanwhile Faezyre spots a second Nick Ryder escorting a centaur and a Maralith.   Tol and Liam find Sir Tomlin has had a complete mental break, possibly a combination of the destruction of his sanctuary and his sudden desperately personal battle with his inner demons due to the Shadowki drug. He has killed Dr Von Braun in a fit of madness and impaled him before the Troubadour. Liam talks him down and the two plant a convincing idea with Ryder to blame his break on the poison. Tomlin is taken away with Gerald.
Inside, Tol finds that the permanent bubble has protected the valuables of the group, and on his way out he finds a skeleton of gold, presumably the remains of the Scion of The Orange God, a fitting reminder of those he uses are mere objects of collection to him.   Meanwhile Fae and Zizkek follow 2nd Nick into the Shadowhome to be greeted by Miss Evening Star and guests, Matilda, Seva, and Odd. Eve introduces the fourth guest, a young boyishly handsome stranger who introduces themselves as Yebuea.   Yebuea says they need to talk. What follows is an information dump that I will summarize here and add to the wiki afterward
  • Talus was created by the Axioms as agents of the Dark Solution in an attempt to cast a single overwhelming blow to the great game
  • The connection of the 8 realities to Talus is tenuous and strained, held together by impossibly large chains anchored to the Hopebreaker
  • The Hopebreaker is a Doom Engine with the power to sever the chains and break the bond, snapping the realities back in a sudden destructive wave. All it needs is the misery gathered by the Calamitous Items over the years
  • The Calamity was the result of the fight between the Axioms and the Maxims over Talus at its creation. A stalemate was formed but the Axioms maintained enough of an edge to push forward their plan through others like the Black Ship company
  • At that battle, eight Prime Objects were carved away from the Axioms by the Maxims as a desperate plan. When found and brought to the Hopebreaker they can be used to fully join the 9 realities into one, breaking the cycle of misery and fully connecting the Talusverse for the first time
  • Axioms are just ideas, but ideas with powerful influence from the Dark Solution. There are 5 in Talus
    • MAGA - Axiom of Greed
    • KALD - Axiom of Power
    • SHEN - Axiom of Self
    • LORL - Axiom of Supremacy
    • RATH - Axiom of Righteousness
  • Maxims are just ideas, but elevated ideas that have higher purpose from the Light's Answer. There are 3 in Talus
    • SUNELDER - Maxim of Space Unbound
    • LITHBRIAR - Maxim of Life Uncounted
    • SNOOZLE - Maxim of Joy Unquestioned
  • You learned from Eve that Maxims and Axioms can have 'children', lesser ideas birthed from their parent. She herself is the 'Inkling of Beauty' born from the Axiom of Self, SHEN. She said you have almost certainly interacted with other Muses, as she calls these children, though you might not ever know it.
  • Eve has the power of Resurrection
  • You learned that 'Archie' Dribbles is likely being held captive by the Shadowki in Duskport with the items as they are useless until they learn how to unseal the boxes.
  • Lastly you connected the name SHEN to something Tol learned much earlier, that the Traskin Empire, or at least part of it, may be in league with SHEN, Axiom of Self

Notes

Big knowledge dump that connected pieces of the story, some of which were there since the first session. Some Heavy stuff. But with this session done and the picture becoming more clear, its time to get back into the fun.   Yabuea is back and here to help, but not without giving you guys shit along the way. He is a great source of knowledge about the Cursewardens.   Eve is here as well, and has prepared the Shadowhome as a new home base should you want or need it. She is an excellent source of information about Avata, Axioms, and Maxims. She says her mother knows where the Prime Objects are hidden.   Yebuea told you to gather Trip's Head so that he could ask it questions. Trip is a great source of information on Aces High, Duskport, the Family, and the Axiom of Greed   Matilda, Seva, and Odd are here to help too. Eve called them here knowing you would need friends around you at this difficult time.   It is time to bring the Bad Idea brand of justice to those that are begging for it. Next session will kick off arc 4, Payback.
