VtM: Shards of Midnight Session 13 Report
General Summary
The recess of the court has arrived and the Varsity Vipers decided to come out with a back up plan: a blood test. While some of the party splits up to get the blood from Hilfred, in which Cain was able to confirm that it was the blood he had smelled earlier at the crime scene. Meanwhile with Scorch, after he broke the door, he had found a mirror portal in a janitorial closet along with some suspicious vial filled with blue blood. When Scorch left to join the others, Cain wasn’t far behind and informed him that he heard the sound of wooden sandals within the closet. Using magic to identify the vials, they appeared to be connected to the element of water and some unidentified virtue. They returned to the trial, in which they were able to successfully identify Hilfred as the culprit. After an ominous warning, he was taken away.
The party returned to Harper’s lab, where the mirror had been put and entered it. It led to an ominous world of shadows and Elysium, which was ruled over by the foul mouthed god, Hisao, the Divine Judgment. Responsible for ferrying souls to their proper afterlives, Hisao told the party how displeased he was with them attempting to change mirror location and talking to the gods as it somehow affected his work. As retribution, he volun-told the group to eventually go to Xi Feng and retrieve his essence from a high ranking person in the Feng government. He is also able to tell the party what is actually happening: something strange is infecting the gods created by dreams and nightmares and are starting to kill them off. While some of the party members thought the gods being dead were a benefit, Hisao quickly informed them that when a god dies, it is like a brain losing brain cells. A god of medicine dies, the mere idea of medicine disappears from Azoth. This appears to be connected to the awakening of He Who Sleeps Beneath and a cult that is trying to wake him up.
The other half of the party, however, went through another mirror within the room which led to Hae Sol. After experiencing some war crimes, the group splits off for the evening. Simon talks to Alliaster and has a very tense conversation with the voice that threatened him before, insinuating they are his enemy. The next morning, Mildred and Vilkas have a very tense conversation. While Vilkas is reluctant to believe that Chaoxing is back, he reluctantly becomes Mildred’s partner in crime. He also mentions that he’s been studying the mysterious blue blood, given to him by a mysterious benefactor from Hae Sol. Aldia is able to find a decent hideout for the group and Vilkas charms it so no one can listen in. After Simon laments what’s happened to him in the past while debating on going to an opera in the real world, the group talks about the dying gods. Ultimately, they think investigating Marina’s and Hilfred’s houses would be beneficial. Chelidon also stops by, talking to Scorch and giving him a hint related to fairytales.
