Session I: Welcome to Kangxi Report

General Summary

The party awoke on the day of their group assignments and were paired together. Pei was ever curious, Xandu collected and patient, and Syx suspcious and overwhelmed by all of the new sights and sounds. Given their job assignment, they set off into the nearby woods to retrieve three plants: Kubi, Bumba, and Chonganda. The guildmaster, Kai Guang, stated that flowering chonganda would net them an extra 2 gold per plant retrieved.   The party successfully occupied the goats with some delicious druidcraft bushes via Xandu for the Kubi plant on the cliffside, and Syx retrieved them no problem with climbing. Pei ate a druidcraft leaf and then a regular one. The druid one was better.   The bumba plant was retrieved with successful animal handling check on a buffalo who nearly stepped on it. Xandu dug up the plant and convinced another buffalo to let them ride it to the next location. They all fell off and decided to walk instead.   Moving to the last location, they entered a cave after spotting some bear tracks outside of it to get the Chonganda fungi. The spores stuck to their feet and hands, but Pei and Syx were able to get several samples with no issue. Walking out of the cave, they went to go track down the bear and found the flowering chonganda, and subsequently the fungi-infested undead bear guarding it. The party attempted to parley, but the bear attacked. They felled it and were able to collect five flowers.   Upon returning to the guild the next day, they turn in their earnings and happen to spot the name on the shipping label for where these plants are going: To: Ozge Demir From: The Light Between Oceans Guild   Kai also tells them about the job board and how it functions. They decide to take the job for the individual looking for an escort to Mbo. This person has spurned every guild group that has asked for the position, making a slew of strange excuses. The party goes and talks to him and sees that he is carrying with him a large sack on a wagon. He hot-colds them based on the things they ask and the way they act, becoming visbly nervous when Pei notices that the bag moved and tells her companions. Eventually, they persuade him to show them the contents after he hears that Xandu is a druid and a healer.   Inside of the sack is a large egg made of jade. The party is unable to tell what it is, but aren't sure if it's living.   Leaving the city after they purchase a serval for ease of travel, as Tian insisted on making the journey on foot, Syx catches Jonsor (the dwarf she journeyed in with) watching them leave out of the west gate.   Xandu is able to deduce that the egg has a living creature in it after performing a medicine and nature check.   Pei names the serval Soverign, who looks like a king cheetah but has the demeanor of a golden retriever. Tian foots the bill for the serval.
