TOL S8 E5 "The Green Market Bombing"

General Summary

Our heroes returned to their rooms at the Olive Cup only to meet a young Tiefling named Jubilee Ardakazde and a familiar face: Lucius Pellinore, the Man in Black. Jubilee introduced herself and explained the two of them needed help finding her friend, the fellow Tahmuras monk Reyhan, whom had gone missing three weeks ago before the siege. Lucius was offering to help find Reyhan in exchange for access to the Heart Hearth but now was stifled in his search because of the arrival of Obadiah the Wise, whom had been seen assisting in the defense of the city. They're only lead was that the Brotherhood of Bronze had been overheard discussing the Tahmuras, which was odd given the sect's secretive nature.

The PCs pressed Lucius on his goals and Lucius relented, relaying that he was from another time and that he needed to gather all of the Time Tablets and return them to the Lost City of Ild to prevent the Twilight Era's impending advance. The PCs were somewhat receptive to this information and were a little suspicious of Obadiah and all the other prophecies they had learned over the past few months. Eventually, they told the pair they needed time to mull over this proposal but their conversation was cut short when a squire from the Brotherhood of Bronze arrived requesting the party give their report of what happened during their last mission.

They were brought to the Ashkelon Keep and relayed their exploits to Sir Ambrose Zula and Mirial ban Shelk. Suddenly an alarm sounded and the party was brought up to the top of the towers to witness Jaldek Qosaary eld-Najr order the execution of the Ghosts of Alameen because the PCs broke the non-aggression pact and attacked priests of Milcon on the Mount of Souls.

The party returned to the Olive Cup and rested. Lyle received a dream from a mysterious figure with a butterfly mask telling him to trust his emotions when he entered the Heart Hearth. They continued to rest until at 11:14AM an explosion was heard to the south. The party raced to the site of the Green Market where the city's supply of alchemist's fire had been bombed, sending vaporized potions into the air and causing all sorts of chaos and carnage. The party struggled in the smoke, fighting a fire elemental and two wyverns and Wyvern masters before driving them off and helping in the relief efforts. They found several intact potions and pocketed them, rescued a Kobold family and two other civilians before joining the larger relief efforts. They met Archbeacon Tariq ban Yensin, Archmatron Ajda ban Hadar, Commodore Damera ban Oren, and Marshal Rostrum Thynemenos. Fenrir's killing of a wyvern earned him the nickname weyrslayer and Lyle used his magic to heal the wounded civilians. Lyle also was cursed with infrared serpent vision.

Depleted of HP and spells, the heroes tried to follow a lead of one of Reyhan's old friends at a bake shop but came up empty. They then received a hidden note inviting them to speak with their old contact Kem the Starkissed at the Jackal's Den, their next target. On their way back to the Olive Cup, the heroes encountered a lost girl and managed to reconnect her with her father. Our heroes retired to their rooms, exhausted, confused by their prophetic positioning, but ultimately proud of their actions this past day. They rest and prepare for the next day of the siege and plan on speaking with Obadiah to get his side of the story as well as interfacing with Kem, who may have some information for the party.
