Session 16: The Weaves Cut Report

General Summary

The party wakes up to find that the landscape has changed drastically. Mount Phuzion has erupted and left the nearby landscape in crevices with a river of lava flowing through the valleys. As the team regroups Spade gets his shield back from Kokrum. Snyde is forced to leave his undead behind as they wont be able to carry all of them. Balrog modified the Alantra to compensate for the heavy air using extra balloons and extra sails for lift using the hot air of the Lava.   During their travel to the research base, Alma informs Spade that Aruka might be brain dead due to the torture she suffered from the Verdan's Mooks. Diamond goes to inform Seth who becomes angry at Alma for not being able to save his friend. Alma reminds him that death is natural before telling everyone to leave the room but Diamond. Spade apologises to Seth for not being able to protect her. Mileena catches Snyde and Prince eaves dropping before discovering her son's mourning. The Aiyers gather round preparing a Megaloran funeral as the rest of the team bear witness. Before it begins Mileena offers Seth one last chance to speak to his fallen friend. He is transported to the Astral Plane where Aruka awaits by a pier. She apologies to Seth for not being able to protect him life and hopes he can forgive her. Seth promises to find a way to bring her back which the battle master retorted that this was her path to walk. They say their good byes as she travels through the river to reach the Astral Gate. Seth returns to find Aruka's fallen expression to one of peace. The funeral begins with a eulogy from Mileena and then offerings from the team. Grey Shadow with his hood down places a simple dagger in her hands to protect her in her journey in the afterlife. Spade places his Frostbrand Longsword "Frosty" by her side as an apology for not being able to protect her. Seth puts his Ring of Protection on her finger and hopes it'll be enough to protect her in her journey. Knowledge Seeker places a scroll by her feet and laments that they have lost a fine warrior. Juri clasps a bangle onto her wrist and Balrog places a bottle of wine by her feet. As the final offering is placed Mileena begins to cremate the body in white smokeless flames. Aruka ashes were given to Seth for him to remember her.   Snyde attempted to steal a magnifying glass from Mileena's room but despite being quiet and invisible; he failed to see the magic trap by his feet and gets caught in an arcane net. Mileena lets him go after making sure he got the message. She also catches Prince as he sends his secret messages and reveals to him that she is a former member of the Circle. Prince drops his demeanour and asks what his new orders are. Mileena replies that there is none and simply wants to confirm that Prince is not after herself and her family.   Along the way they pick up survivors from a fallen strider after almost getting into an altercation with the Sky Rangers protecting them. The week continues to rue, literally as May returns to finish the Party. The team leads her away to prevent the Research Base from being discovered. They enter an old mountain complex where May's Familiar couldn't fit. However she had switch to an octopus familiar and hounded the airship with a sea of undead. They hurl attacks against one another until they pass through open spaces. Spade had Knowledge Seeker cast fly on him and engages the Apostle in Melee along with Seth on his back, Snyde and the Sky Rangers behind him. Prince tried to convince Clint to fly to Spade to aid him but the agent wasn't confident enough to fly in these tight quarters. So instead he Dimension Doors blindly and manage to fall on top of the Octopus. The encounter was short however as May used the distraction to catch up to the Alantra and rain undead upon her. The team did well to fend them but Snyde gets one sided from a radiant beam fired from one of May's Familiars, forcing him to hide under the balloon. As Spade, Seth, Prince in Owl form and the Sky Rangers catch up, the Warforge gets hit by the radiant beam. Out of desperation, Spade drinks one of his randomly made potions that he made a while back and it grants him True Sight just in time to see a large wall of pitch black undead in front of the Alantra with May right on top of it. The team threw all they had at it but it was Skylar who stole the show thanks to his Tempest Exo Suit he unleashed a storm of Elemental energy exploding the wall and sending May flying. As May fell onto one of the nearby Platforms, the hail of falling bodies stopped, prodding Spade to press their attack. May begins running into the complex throwing up a golden wall of undead to stop Spade. The Warforge tries to breakthrough but had only enough space to throw his Axe into the back of the Apostle. he gets into a bind when the wall begins to swallow him. Snyde follows up by Dimension Door behind the floor to give chase only for him run into May behind the corner and cast Death Hand on him, draining his life force killing him. Spade tells the Sky Rangers to go around to try and cut her off as he breaks through. He finds Snyde's body unmoving and tells Prince to watch over his body as he continues pursuing May. the Alantra anchors near the platform as Alma breaks the wall using Turn Undead. She immediately casts Revivify on him and manage to bring him back from the dead. Seth leaves them to give chase, activating his Boots of Haste. Spade barely catches up to May as Sky Ranger Emmet in her Pursuit Exo Suit gets thrown aside. Spade rages and teleports behind her and delivers punishing blows before she pushes him off the platform. He digs his Axe into the wall before he drops even further. Emmets throws Poison Shurikens but doesn't deal a lot of damage. Seth comes in just in time and tries to sneak attack only for her to dodge in the same speed as him. Knowing she'll be surrounded she cast Thunderwave and pushes off Emmet and Seth and makes her way to the edge of the Platform. Prince tries to trap her but she one ups him by trying to trap him the wall which the half elf barely evades. Seth gets up and sheaths Kimetsu No Yaiba simultaneously clicking on the Chronolometer and Breaking his Limit. Triple Hasted; Seth calmly walks towards the small Apostle and makes a clean cut through her neck. He returns to his original position and sheaths his blade. To the others it looked like he moved in the blink of an eye the air rushing around him as if he broke the sound barrier. Just before he fully closes his blade he utters "You are already dead." To which May responses "what?". The Swashbuckler sheaths his Blade, activating Booming Blade. May's head separates from her body in an explosion of blood and the Apostle is no more.   Spade goes the extra mile to collect her head from the depth of the Complex and burn her body into ashes. Prince collects a sample after discovering an odd energy around the remains. Spade then proceeds to burn the body and collect the glassed ash.    On the return trip to the ship; the team runs into Nyior Spectres lead by Spade's ally Sergeant Kelly Roma. She informs him that her company sustained heavy losses and only 30 remain. Her charge blade and armour have also been upgraded. Together they travel to the Research base where survivors from the keep have already set up. Seth notices the ship he's built and named her Aruka.    In the debrief with Milady; Spade declares open war against the Apostles of Maulnesh
