Session 5: What have the hobs' found? Report

General Summary

Mika catches up with the party and gets caught up with the situations that have been occurring. They all are brought to the hobs' where they meet the leader of the hobs, a bulbous hob named Jeck. He tells the party that they have been hearing weird sounds from the caverns they discovered. The party is resolute to investigate the caverns but first needs to long rest.  

13th day of the Orange Moon in the year 436

  During the night the party hears strange whispering echoing through the caves. Shei and Wyren ad given restless sleep; causing them to be susceptible to the whispering in the future. Using his powers of persuasion; Shei begins to convert some of the hobs to the worship of Shurrani.   The party proceeds to enter the tunnels below the hob cave and find a strange room with a statue of a decaying man with a mouth filled with fangs. Mika runs into the next chamber and knocks on a coffin that lays in it; out pops a zombie which is promptly taken care of by Tak and his divine smites.   While Tak explores the first chamber he notices that the statue has 4 arms; similar to a suit of arms in the second chamber. He also finds a strange liquid in a vial that is red with greenish ichor rolling around itn it.   A third chamber lies behind a small tunnel. Inside it is a skeleton whose skin is dried and stuck to the bones. Manacled, the skeleton appeared to be a sacrifice of some kind. A key and a dagger are found on the white altar that is across from the sacrificed skeleton.   The 4th chamber the party enters has 10 identical snake statues sitting on pedestals; they are identical in all ways except for their size. In the mouths of each of the snakes is a whole and the party surmises that they have to put the smaller snakes into the larger ones mouths. Once this is complete the singular snake wiggles out of the grasp of Tak and into a hole in the wall. The sound of stone grinding on stone signals that a secret door was found, Treasure Awaits!   In the 5th chamber, after a hallway, an arcane laboratory is found. A strange flesh mound-like monster is found covered in grasping whispering mouths and eyes. A fight ensues and after the gibbering mother is defeated the chamber is searched. A strange encrypted spell book is found along with some potions of healing and one potion of fire breath.   A small living area is found next, along with a locked door to a library. Finally Tak can use the key that he took from the altar. It opens the door and the party reads the book found within.   

"Our Master's enemies have grown jealous... they are coming.... He has bade us to seal him away for protection and we have.... One of our bothers has escaped... he will bring word of our master to the future generations.

   Down the final tunnel the party goes, and Garuman is almost skewered by a fake door and a spear. The inner sanctum of Archram the Cruel is found; his coffin has been sealed with giant chains and locked by a strange contraptions of a box with fangs. Shei puts his stone arm into the lock and it draws blood, curing him of his certification but also opening the coffin.   Four clawed hands pull the decaying body of Archram the Cruel out, and he is thankful at the party for freeing him. In exchange for some of their essence he offers them a boon, Wyren is the only one to take this deal. After the deal is completed, Tak and Garuman are hesitant to trust this undead. Garuman casts hideous laughter on the undead, who begin to fall down laughing. Tak and Garuman close him into the coffin and wrap the chains around it once more.   The chests in the chamber are explored and a pile of bones with 2 crawling hands are decimated. After, Tak uses his divine sense to figure out that Archram is no longer in his coffin.
