Session 3: The Home of Rogues Report

General Summary

The Party is in The-Bar, a public drink house in Rogue's Home. The bartender there lets it be known that, the Pink orcs the party spotted to the south of the city are a band of braves from a nearby tribe of Grass-Seeker orcs. They've been circling the city for a few weeks now waiting on a traitor and a thief of their clan to exit the city walls, so they can kill him. He also mentions that this same Orc has been stiring up resentment in the city, and talking of challenging The-Lord for rulership of the city.   Grik and the Party remove themselves to a quiet portion of the bar to talk business at this point, as they have a few options in front of them. They don't expect The-Lord-of-the-City to offer them favorable trade terms, and besides the best trade terms would come from direct control of The-City-in-the-Ruins anyways. They consider backing the Pink Orc traitor and using him as a figurehead, but Washa cannot reconcile such actions with the oath he swore when he joined his order, he cannot stand to employ a traitor and a thief. They also consider capturing the traitor and presenting him to the braves as a sign of good will, hoping to ingratiate themselves with their tribe so that they might later count on them as muscle for a potential hostile takeover of the city; this plan however still leaves them lacking an adequate figurehead. Kote wonders how the gems of power that are rumored to be hidden in the uninhabited districts of the city might be used to their benefit in overthrowing the cities government, and suggest they utilize the Grass-Seeker orcs to help the party secure them.   First things first, the party decides to gather information on this tratior, and Grik brings them to a friend of his, a local, who might know something. On the way however they are assaulted by 12 giant and hungry rats who nearly incapacitate both Grik and Kote. Deciding to delay their information gather, Grik leads them to a seedy brothel where they are able to receive some expensive healing. While waiting, Washa makes friendly with a very sultry Tiefling lady. Rejuvenated in more ways than one, the party heads off to see Grik's friend Haeres, this time taking populated thoroughfares to avoid anymore vermin.   Haeres is a beggar, and the party found him seated below a delegated statue in a market square of the city. The cry of charm vendors and butchers fills the background as introductions are made, and the party lodges an inquiry into the traitor Orc. Haeres indicates he may know where he can be found, but the information doesn't come free. Feeling a bit light in the coin purse after his romantic sojourn, Washataki instead offers his service as a blade to Haeres, offering right there to deal with anyone who's wronged or cheated him. Haeres points an old and withered finger to a meat hut across the yard, and tells Washa this orc has him jumped and one of his two dogs stolen for butchery. On the spot Washa calmly decapitates the man and returns to the group. Impressed and relieved, Haeres leads the party to a safe place to discuss business.   Haeres leads them to a quiet alleyway and knocks thrice on an unmarked and unassuming door. An eye slit opens revealing two large, bright yellow eyes that stand out of the darkness behind, before the door opens fully. A tall, black skinned Tiefling greets Haeres and his companions and leads them to a table in a smoky corner of the main room.   Haeres describes the Orc, a tall muscular specimen with pale pink skin and many scars, most notable one above his right eye. He says that most days he can be found around the docks of the city, making trouble with the fisher-orcs and taking in news. Most nights he can be found at one brothel or another.   The party now decides that, before any other action, they have to acquire some gold. Haeres mentions a rumor that has been circulating recently of gold stashed in a pot of acid somewhere the local apothecary, and the party leaves to case the joint. The shop is built into a stone ruin that is mostly whole on the first level, while the second and third levels are constructed of reclaimed wood. After trying and failing to gain a vertical advantage, they retire for the evening committed to returning the next morning. On the way back to the Tea Room, Kote remembers the Butcher's hut and decides to go check it out for loot. Within he finds another thief, slays him, and makes away with 7 GP, a copper bar worth 100 CP, and a fine pelt.   The next morning, the party successfully pulls off the heist in the apothecary, while Kote climbed up the wall and infiltrated from the top, Washa and Hank distracted onlookers on the ground floor. Kote stealthily made away with 10 stamped gold ingots that they had appraised by Oris, a local fence, for 80 GP per. They exchanged half of those for unmarked GP on the spot.
