Session 4: Fortunes and Misfortunes Report

General Summary

The party, gold in pocket and revolt on mind, make their way back to The Tea Room to have a rest. On the next morning, freshly leveled up, they decide to make their way outwards to the docks to find the Grass-Seeker. On their way down one of the many market streets of the city, the party and a nearby Tortle notice a robbery occur. In stopping the crime they make themselves targets of yet more Goblin thieves, but they're stealth failed them on this day. Tortolos catches one at his belt, Hank notices another running away with Washataki's purse and stops it, the party dispatches them quickly and brutally.   The party welcomes their new friend back to the Tea Room to talk business. Washataki makes a point by throwing a sack of 200 gold pieces on the table in front of Tortolos - "This is what we have on us now, and we've got more in a safe place...", and describing vaguely the parties plans in the city with the traitor orc, his former tribe beyond the city walls, and the Lord of the city; how they intend to take over Rogue's Home and bend it to their will. They welcome Tortolos so readily for two reasons, firstly his respectable size and strength, secondly he's a powerful artifact hunter who may know more of the gems of power hidden in the abandoned parts of the city.   They strike out once more, the party now strengthened by one. At the docks they decide to ask Oris, the Ogre fence, about a tall, muscular, scarred pink orc. After a little haggling Washataki gets some information for the cost of 5 gold. "The Orc's name is Dante, he is a trouble maker, and he's just over in a hideaway on the other side of the dock." The party makes their way over, and Kote scopes it out. The small cave is illuminated by a small dingy fire, and smells of roast meat. Within ten orcs are roasting a large bloated sea bird and sharing a bottle as they tell raunchy stories.   Washataki enters and convinces a majority of the mostly unarmed Orcs to depart, three remain, but Washataki and the traitor agree to one on one combat. The battle is fierce yet brief. In the space of thirty seconds, the traitor dances with animalistic grace around the samurai, making savages piercing attacks with a short spear. Washataki however landed multiple cruel, coldly calculated attacks by his katana and bloodied his foe. After losing a hand the Orc dropped his spear and grappled the Man to the ground, but Washa ripped out the Orcs throat with his teeth and slew him.   Upon dying the traitor's tattoos begin to glow, and Washa realizes this Orc was involved with, or related to, the Orcs that destroyed his temple. He cuts out his heart with the magic circle carved into the skin above. Outside the cave three Orcs remain awaiting the outcome of the fight. One elects to become a follower of Washataki after this display of strength and shares some information on the traitor. He was a traveler who left the tribe, then returned and was welcomed back, but betrayed a marriage pact and made away with a large amount of loot from a trade, murdering a few of his kin to boot, before making his way to the city.   The party prepares to leave the city for a few days and seek out the Grass-Seeker braves that are known to be circling the region.
