Session 5: Our Lady of Mysteries Report

General Summary

At the start of this session, Stigala's leprosy began to affect her, Fatiguing her inexplicably.

As the investigators left the sacristy of Sir Humbert and headed to their rooms, they heard a distant scream echoing through the Abbey. Chasing down the sound led them to the novice cloister, where Novice Master Guibert was found slapping Sylvaine, a young novice, "out of her hysteria."

The young girl was calmed down by more rational means and returned to her cell, with Elric staying to stand guard while the others left to turn in. Suddenly, Guibert was attacked by the lilim, gashing a terrible wound in his shoulder and dousing his lamp, plunging the cloister into darkness. Elric moved into Sylvaine's cell as a better defensive position while the other investigators ran back toward the new set of screams.

After a desperate fight in which Rowan was slightly injured (and discovered the bludgeoning attack were useless), Smok charged in headlong and slew the monster with his dagger. The lilim was taken to the storeroom for Elric's study and Rowan and Guibert were taken to Brother Paulinus in the infirmary for treatment. Rowan was treated and released; Guibert was kept overnight; and Stig was prescribed wine and steak to "balance her lack of the sanguine humour" and restore her vigor.

The next day, Elric went to the library to research the lilim, finding that the had to be specifically summoned using a special incense stick. Stig networked among the servants and learned that Prioress Muriel had ordered just such an incense stick to be made by Madam Magdalena. Rowan went to the noon Adoration and stalled Prioress Muriel afterward, while Smok pilfered the prioress's room and found a tome that seemed to outline the summoning ritual.

The four investigators moved to confront the prioress in the chapel, when they were interrupted by an unearthly laugh...a second lilim cackling at them from the balcony!
