016: Field Trip Pt 1

General Summary

The group travelled to the mountains in a van to participate in a conservation research project. Artemis had to sneak out of the house to attend as her mother did not want her to be gone for so long. Aida may or may not have decided to come due to the presence of a TA named Jeremy.   They met an old native american drunk at the parking area before they proceeded up the mountain and he warned them not to enter the woods at this time of year, as they were "hungry." While hicking to the site they came across a strange symbol carved into a tree, they could not make sense out of it and wondered what would be carving on trees ten feet off the ground. This was the second foreboding sign they encountered and they had not even reached the campsite.   In early evening they set camp, with a few of their fellow students going out to set trail cams while they gathered wood and built camp. Shortly after dark a storm arrived forcing everyone into their tents for the night. All during the night the group swore they could hear singing being carried on the wind. When the storm finally passed and they exited the tents they discovered the other tents had been blown away or collapsed and there was over a foot of snow on the ground, along with some strange rocks strewn in a weird pattern about the camp.   An investigation revealed that none of their classmates or chaperones were still in the campsite, and many had left without even putting on their shoes. Artemis climbed a tree and was able to discern the rocks in the camp were in the same symbol as they had seen on the tree. There was some problem getting Artemis back out of the tree, but as soon as they did a pair of gigantic wolves entered the camp site seeking a meal.   A lengthy battle ensued in which the group revealed their various inhuman natures to one another in order to defeat the monsters.   After the battle the group investigated the wolves and determined they had been altered by some technology. The wolves were also affixed with radio transmitters and had been broadcasting to someone (or something) nearby.
  The group must now decide if they will travel down the mountain and attempt to get help, or search for their fellow students on their own.
